"You know the feelings are there, so you bury them. Your talk of loyalty, of dreams and friendship... they're no more than a lid on your stir-fry of jealousy. Oh, how deeply you must hate yourself. You have EXACTLY what you always wanted...but it's not enough, is it? No one loves you. You can't love yourself. And so the jealousy consumes you."
Neku andShiki awake in theTipsy Tose Hall. They are both very tense from the events of the previous day. Shiki tries her best to apologize for saying that Neku was no better than aReaper. Ultimately, the two decide to move past it and focus on the mission. The mission for the day was to freeSpain Hill from theNoise.
On the way there, they encounter abusinessman who's struggling to make a decision regarding ared pin. He tries to useReaper Creeper to make his decision. Shiki suggests that Neku use one of his psychs to influence the Reaper Creeper game and the man's decisions. However when the man forgets his own question after Neku influences his game, the pair decide that he's best left alone.
Ai and Mina's argument attracting Negative Noise
The two reach Spain Hill and try to Erase the Noise but it becomes quickly clear that there are too many Noise in the area. They notice thatAi andMina having an argument about something nearby and realize that their negative energy is attracting the Noise. The two's argument is stemmed from Ai's crush onMakoto. Mina had been talking with Makoto and found out that he wanted tickets to the following week's Slam-Off atMolco. So she had purchased tickets for him and Ai to go together. But unbeknownst to Mina, Ai had seen them together that day and assumed that Mina was trying to steal Makoto for herself.
Based onscanning alone, it wasn't clear what Mina's true intentions were and Neku and Shiki believe what Ai does. Shiki doesn't feel that Ai should know what they see as the truth but Neku feels that it has to be said. Heimprints of Ai to make her suggest that her and Mina play Reaper Creeper. Throughout the game of Reaper Creeper, Ai gets progressively madder at Mina and eventually tells her that she saw her and Makoto together. It's at this point that Mina comes clean with her plan. This shocks Ai and makes her apologize for her behavior but Mina also sees herself at fault for lying. With their argument now over, Neku and Shiki are able to Erase all the Noise in the area. After having seen Ai and Mina make up, it pushes Neku and Shiki to do the same. Neku finally expresses sadness forRhyme's Erasure.
But then, they are confronted byYodai Higashizawa who introduces himself as theGame Master. He came there because he was drawn to the negative emotions that Shiki felt. He then drew these out, talking about the jealousy, envy, and selfishness that she feels. He tells her that none of these facts about her will change if she is restored to life. This causes Shiki to run off but Neku is left confused about Higashizawa's final words. Higashizawa then confirms to Neku that he is dead and that The Reapers' Game is an examination to see if he is worthy at another chance at life. Higashizawa then leaves Neku, who is alone and in complete disbelief.
Walkthrough[]
After the opening scene, move to the right where a businessman in a black suit stands. He’ll play Reaper Creeper; move the coin to any of the three spots, as the choice won’t mean much in particular. Remember to do it slowly as if the coin moves too fast, the man will believe he bumped the paper and retry. After playing, Neku and Shiki will receive thememe “Reaper Creeper”. The route to Spain Hill is blocked by a Reaper who will only put the wall down when two of the biggest Noise symbols are defeated. After fighting them, the Reaper will clear the route.
At Spain Hill, fight some noise until Neku and Shiki talk about how the Noise won’t stop coming and the source is revealed to be two girls, Mina and Ai. Scan them and erase some of the orange Noise surrounding them. After the fight, talk to them and imprint “Reaper Creeper” on Ai. She’ll play Reaper Creeper with Mina; there’s no benefit to any of the choices over each other, but choosing White for all questions will getMr. Ducky, needed for the post-game’sSecret Report. After the conversation ends and Ai and Mina make up, finish off the last Noise in the area.
When the final Noise is erased, aCircle Pit Grizzly will attack. Defeat it to finish the chapter.
