Suits Pearson Premiere Dates

Suits and its spinoffPearson are teaming up this summer: The ninth and final season of the flagship series will premiere on Wednesday, July 17 at 9/8c onUSA Network, leading into the debut of the Gina Torres-led offshoot at 10 pm.

Suits‘ 10-episode swan song will explore Harvey and Donna as a romantic couple in the aftermath of his Season 8 finale epiphany. The realization that Donna is the one with whom he wants to share his wins and losses led Harvey to rush to her home, after which the pair had sex.

“We’re going to follow their growth,” showrunner Aaron Korsh told TVLine during apost mortem Q&A. “When you’re in a relationship with someone, learning how to communicate with them is probably the most important key to success. They’re going to have to learn how to handle their issues in a relationship the way people do, the way couples do, and we’re going to see that.”

Pearson, also spanning 10 episodes, follows Torres’ disbarred lawyer Jessica Pearson as she gets involved in the dirty world of Chicago politics and becomes the mayor’s (Homeland‘s Morgan Spector) right-hand fixer. The cast also includes Simon Kassianides (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as a cop/the mayor’s driver, Bethany Joy Lenz (One Tree Hill) as the ambitious city attorney Keri Allen, Chantel Riley (Wynnona Earp) as Jessica’s cousin Angela, Isabel Arraiza (The Oath) as Jessica’s “intense” assistant Yoli and Eli Goree (Ballers) as the mayor’s press secretary Derrick.Suits EP Daniel Arkin serves as showrunner on the spinoff.

  1. Kinda wonder if a spin-off with Donna’s character could work?

  2. finally a date!!! make mine calendar

  3. I couldn’t be more excited for Suits, but I honestly couldn’t be less excited for Pearson. The pilot definitely didn’t help, but I’m going to force myself to watch it and see if I’ll change my mind.

    • Same which is a shame as I loved her character on Suits and love her as an actress. The show seemed super dark compared to Suits which is part of the issue for me. I preferred it when USA was a network of fun easy going shows but a couple of years ago that changed and everything is dark. I will probably give it a few episodes but won’t be shocked if I end up tuning out.

  4. Main characters getting married always strikes me as a sign of desperation — and catering to the audience, more than reason. I’d have expected more of Suits. Of course I expected more of Frazier, too.

    • It is the final season, though, so they are allowed to “cater to the audience”. Ever since the show started it was pretty obvious that Harvey and Donna were meant to end up together, and now it was probably the best time to do it, rather than have it come out of the blue in the series finale.

    • I’m not sure if there will be a wedding in the final 10 episodes, but Harvey and Donna getting together is not a sign of desperation or catering to the audience, it’s following through on a storyline they built up over years. And I’m really glad there are 10 episodes left to explore their relationship. I just don’t understand people who see romantic relationships on tv shows as somehow lesser than other relationships and storylines. It’s a big part of life and avoiding it only means leaving a lot of potential storylines unexplored.

  5. Looking forward to both shows! Hope they bring Mike back for at least one or two episodes! Really missed watching Jessica Pearson!

  6. Not sure about spinoff. Will give it a try but hate to lose Suits…

  7. I look forward to both.

  8. I guess Suits has a lot to accomplish in a scant ten episodes, but it would be a shame if they didn’t manage some kind of crossover episodes between the two series while they have this rare opportunity to have both shows on at the same time.

    • We already know there won’t be a crossover, since they had no idea when Pearson would air while they filmed it. Since there are only 10 episodes left I’m glad they won’t spend one of them on a crossover, especially after the season 7 finale spent so much time on setting up the spinoff and too little time on giving Mike and Rachel a proper send-off.

  9. I can’t wait. I love “Suits”. I just love it. And I am excited to watch the new one. I just wish there were more episodes.

  10. So love love love Suits will be sorry to see it end has been a great series. Love Jessica so will look forward to that new show. Anxious to finally see Donna and Harvey together

  11. Absolutely love the idea of both shows. I knew when the princess left suits would end in a year or so. Going to miss Suits and it characters. But Pearson looks like a interesting new show. I wish the actor and actress from Suits a fond far well when their done. And welcome the new show Pearson.

  12. Happy both shows will be airing new episodes on Wednesday nights this summer. Can’t wait to see both shows’ seasons!

  13. Wow. Suits S9 and the Harvey / Donna romcom show sounds awful. Not sure I’ll be tuning in anymore.

  14. It’s going to be great love the show you put out

  15. I have felt (& I believe expressed) since the first mention of the spinoff at the end of last season that it should not begin airing at the same time “Suits” is airing its FINAL season!!

USA is known for starting & ending seasons of many shows throughout the year, so it appears they are intentionally trying to hurt one (if not both) show(s)!
