“There’ll be a lot of deaths this season,” executive producer Todd Helbing ominously teased duringThe Flash‘s San DiegoComic-Con panel on Saturday.
In possibly related news, Season 5’sBig Bad Cicada is “not so much a cult leader” like he is in the DC Comics canon, Helbing explained. “But his powers present a challenge for Team Flash that they’ve never had to deal with before.” (Speaking of the comics, there will be a younger version of the Rogues this season.)
Other highlights from the panel Q&A:
* “We’re going to kick off the season with a newer Wells who has come to join these people,” his portrayer Tom Cavanaugh shared. Sherloque Wells, as he’s called, is “a very intelligent human being who is maybe not to be trusted.”
* Helbing promised that fans will learn “why and how [Caitlin] got [her Killer Frost] powers. She didn’t get them from the particle accelerator explosion. She’s working on [figuring out] how that came to be.”
* Cisco’s “powers are going to be challenged like they never have before, in a perilous situation,” actor Carlos Valdes revealed.
* On Helbing’s wish list for the second half of Season 5: an episode featuringboth Gorilla Grodd and King Shark.
* The show will introduce a LGBTQ character this season, Helbing said.
* Gustin is “very, very excited” that Barry finally has his Flash ring, as seen in the Season 5 trailer. “It’s something we wanted to happen for a long time,” he shared, adding that it comes with “a really, really cool new suit.”
The Flash Season 5 premieres Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 8/7c onThe CW.
No trailer posting?
No one cause as we learned last season they don’t have the balls to make deaths count on this show
If you’ve read the comics for this season’s Big Bad, you will know that he kills people that The Flash has saved in order to revive his dead wife. This fits perfectly with The CW version of The Flash become every season you have a situation with Barry goes into a self pity spiral and blames himself for what’s happening.
I hope it’s Iris who dies
Productive comment. You seem nice.
I haven’t been a fan of Iris for the last season and a half, but we have their grown daughter, so I’m going to say that’s not going to happen.
Lmao Iris haters are so sad and predictable.
It won’t be but you can keep hoping and stay bitter like all the Iris haters who don’t understand there is no show without Barry’s lightning rod.
“an lgbtq character” I bet my life it’s a queer woman. For some reason the arrowverse just can’t/doesn’t do gay men (besides Curtis, but he’s kinda meh)
Captain Singh is married to his husband Rob.
He was basically on once this whole season, and hasn’t had a single storyline. Hardly a fully realised gay character
To be perfectly honest, I could do without a lot of the romantic storylines, across all the DC shows, across all sexual aligments. For me, Singh is a positive example. He’s married, he’s gay and that’s it. Case closed. No weekly drama and secret keeping and inevitable blow-up. If they give Singh’s husband and their relationship a bigger focus, I bet you that the writers’ only idea will be to kill Rob and then everybody will scream “kill your gays” again. Just leave them be.
He is a fully realized gay character. He is openly queer, he talks about his husband, and we’ve seen them together multiple times. He’s had multiple conversations with Barry and Joe about their relationship throughout the years – from when they were dating, when they were getting engaged, and when they were married. He’s just also a side character who isn’t going to get his own storyline just like other side characters.
We’ve seen him twice. A time in the hospital in S1 then when he saved from a burning building, and they’re relo has barely been mentioned. He’s a tertiary character… hardly comparable to Sara, Alex and Anissa and theyre epic storylines.
Who said he was comparable to Sara, Alex, and Anissa? Singh has always been a side character – not a main character. That doesn’t make him any less of a fully realized gay character. And yeah his husband has been seen only a few times – he was also on this season at Barry and Iris’ original church wedding. That also doesn’t make Singh any less of a fully realized gay character. His primary purpose on the show is to be Joe and Barry’s boss. Whenever they talk about his personal life or show his husband, it’s a nice touch, but the show isn’t about him or his husband.
You seem to have forgotten about Constantine (who is bisexual), as well as Leo Snart and Ray from Earth X, who are married.
“Sherloque Wells, as he’s called, is “a very intelligent human being who is maybe not to be trusted.”
So… same old same old eh?
I don’t want to rain on Todd Helbing’s wish list, but the longer we can go without Gorilla Grodd and King Shark, the better.
What channel is the flash on we use to see it on CtV but not anymore can you help
I hope it’s iris
I wish they’d kept Marlize or brought back Dr McGee or Tracey Brand in the older, super-intelligent mentor role filled by the many Wells. I think it would have been interesting to see Marlize try to atone for all her wrongdoing by joining Team Flash. And the actor was really good in the role.
