TheMobile Platform Work Group (MPWG) is a TCG Technical work group that develops specifications and reference documents for mobile devices to support the wide variety of business models in consumer, enterprise, government, and academic environments. TheTrusted Mobility Solutions Work Group (TMS) is a TCG Solutions work group that develops use cases, frameworks, and other reference documents to promote the adoption of TCG technologies within end-to-end solutions for mobile devices, telecom infrastructure, and enterprise networks. MPWG and TMS collaborate frequently to address the evolving challenges of the mobile device markets around the world. The top priority of the MPWG and TMS WGs is to promote the adoption of sound trusted computing technologies in the mobile ecosystem.

The MPWG and TMS long-term strategy is to bring trusted computing technologies to mobile ecosystems in collaboration with other standards bodies. The TCG has formal liaisons with Global Platform, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), and the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) and informal collaborations with numerous other standards organizations including 3GPP, GSMA, IETF, IEEE, and SAE.

MPWG Core Publications:

TCG Mobile Reference Architecture v2 defines a framework for the implementation of Protected Environments and other Trusted Computing technologies in mobile platforms (published 2023).
TPM 2.0 Mobile Command Response Buffer Interface provides a kernel interface to the TPM, suitable for all architectures (errata published 2019).
TPM 2.0 Mobile Common Profile provides a medium-scale subset of the TPM capabilities for mobile phones and other mobile devices (published 2015).

TMS Core Publications:

TMS Use Cases v2 – Enterprise, Financial, & NFV expands TMS Use Cases v1 to address Enterprise, Financial, Network Function Virtualization (NFV) use cases (published 2018).
TMS Use Cases v1 – Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) provides guidance for applying TCG technologies to a broad range of mobile devices and mobile ecosystems (published 2013).

Mobile Guidance Publications:

TCG Runtime Integrity Preservation for Mobile Devices addresses the challenge of platform integrity by recommending best practices and mechanisms to preserve the critical portions of the runtime state of mobile devices (published 2019).
TCG TPM 2.0 Mobile Specification Implementation Guidance is a one-stop reference for mobile platform designers, developers, and implementers to get started implementing the TPM 2.0 Mobile specifications (published 2018).
TCG Multiple Stakeholder Model describes how multiple stakeholders can coexist safely on mobile platform (published 2016).

Kathleen is a member of the Senior Professional Staff in APL’s Asymmetric Operations Sector. Kathleen has contributed to the TCG Mobile Platform Work Group since 2011, became a MPWG Work Group co-chair in 2015, and received a TCG Key Contributor award in 2016. Her research at APL focuses on system security engineering, defensive cyber solutions, and trusted computing technologies for desktop, server, and mobile platforms.

Alec Brusilovsky

Security Standardization Manager

Alec is Manager of Security Standardization at InterDigital Communications, LLC. Alec has contributed to the TCG Trusted Mobility Solutions (TMS) and Mobile Platform Work Groups since 2011, became a TMS Work Group co-chair in 2014 and MPWG co-chair in 2020, and received a TCG Key Contributor award in 2015. Alec has extensive experience in standards development, security and privacy, system design, and applications development for major telecom operators and equipment vendors. Alec negotiated strategic TCG formal liaisons with European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS). Alec is an active contributor in 3GPP SA3 (security) and ETSI NFV SEC (security). In the past, Alec served as co-chair of the IETF SPIRITS Working Group. Alec is an IEEE Senior Member active in the IEEE Communication Society and holds many US and international patents.

Ira McDonald

Ira is founder and President of High North Inc, a consulting firm specializing in network software design, security and privacy, network management, internationalization, mobile devices, embedded devices, automotive security, and printing systems. Ira has been a TCG Invited Expert since 2008. Ira has contributed to the Trusted Mobility Solutions (TMS) and Mobile Platform Work Groups since 2011, became co-founder and co-chair of the TMS Work Group in 2011, and received a TCG Key Contributor award in 2015. Ira is a lead editor in Trusted Network Communications (TNC), Embedded Systems (EmSys), Internet of Things (IoT), Network Equipment, and other TCG work groups. Ira also actively contributes to IETF, IEEE, Linux Foundation, DMTF, and SAE standards.
