ABC-TV OPERA IN COLOR
COLOR programs on
television are officially
a year away, but right
now the making of the
programs are giving
headaches to some
people.

survived more (han their
share of color filming
problems are the casi and
crew ol "The Violins of
Saint-Jacques."
"Thc Violins of Saint
Jacques," a period costume
opera on the grand scale,
composed bv Australian
Malcolm Williamson, has

ABC-TV for screening later.
While main programs
have already been made in
color, this was their first
major production on color

film, according to "The
Violins" producer. Peter
Page.

said, "lt can be wiped and
used again and again.
Possibly its biggest advan-
tage is it can bc pla ved back
straight away, ( dior film has
to be processed, so you never
know what you've got until

Color videotape has its
disadv antages, too.
"lt hasn't the mohilitv of
color film. Hie big electroni

around on location, they are
