AUSTRALIAN STAFF CORPS
3/81 Brigadier T F Cape, T> SO, MBE, from attached Aus
tralian Army Staff (United Kingdom), for attendance 1960 course,
Imperial Defence College, is appointed Chief of Staff, Head
quarters, Northern Command, 22nd December, 1960
3/167 Colonel (Temporary Brigadier) E Logan relinquishes the
appointment of Deputy Quartermaster-General, 11th November,
1960 and is attached to Australian Army Staff (United Kingdom)
tor attendance 1961 Course Imperial Defence College, 19 th
November, 1960
2/47 Colonel (Temporary Brigadier) G F Larkin, O B E, relin
quishes the appointment of Chief of Staff, Head-quarters, Southern
Command, 13th November, 1960 and is attached to Australian
Army Staff (United Kingdom), for attendance 1961 Course, Im
perial Defence College, 21st November, 1960
2/38 Colonel (Temporary Brigadier) D R Jackson, DSO,
relinquishes the appointment of Director of Supplies and Trans
port, 6th November, 1960, and is appointed Chief of Staff, Head
quarters, Southern Command, 14th November 1960
2/44 Colonel K Mackay, MBE, relinquishes the appointment
of Director of Quartering, 11th December, 1960, is appointed
Director of Military Training, and to be Temporary Brigadier, 12th
December, 1960
2/27 Colonel F G Hassett, DSO, M V O , OBE, relinquishes
the appomtment of Military Secretary, 18th September, 1960, and
is appointed Commander, 28th Commonwealth Infantry Brigade
Group, and to be Temporary Brigadier, 18th October, 1960 [In
lieu of the notification respecting this officer which appeared in
Executive Minute No 34 of 1960, promulgated in Commonwealth
of Australia Gazette No 39 of 1960]
2/52 Colonel S T G Coleman, OBE, relinquishes the appoint
ment of Director of Infantry, 11th December, 1960, and is
appointed Commandant, Officer Cadet School, 19th Dewember,
1960
2/78 Colonel A E Ross, OBE relinquishes the appointment
of Chief Engineer Eastern Command, 28th October, 1960, is
appointed Deputy Quartermaster-General, and to be Temporary
Brigadier, 12th November, 1960
2/51 Colonel V E Dowdy, OBE relinquishes the appointment
of Commander, Head-quarters, Commander, Royal Australian Army
Service Corps Southern Command, 6th November 1960, is
appointed Director of Supplies and Transport, and to be Tem
porary Brigadier, 7th November, 1960
2/74 Colonel A F Swmbourne relinquishes the appointment
Colonel-in-Charge, Administration, Head quarters, Northern Com
mand, 21st December 1960, and is appointed Director of
Quartering, 2nd January, 1961
2/132 Lieutenant-Colonel (Temporary Colonel) G D Solomon
relinquishes the appointment of Range Commander, Marahnga
Range Support Unit, 21st August, 1960, and is appointed Military
Secretary, 19th September, 1960
2/82 Lieutenant-Colonel (Temporary Colonel) P L Tancred
relinquishes the appointment of Director of Maintenance, 14th
December, 1960, and is appointed Director of Military Art, Royal
Military College, 15th December, 1960
3/141 Lieutenant Colonel (Temporary Colonel) J G Ochiltree,
OBE, relinquishes the appointment of Commandant, Officer
Cadet School, 18th December, 1960, and is appointed Director of
Maintenance, 3rd January, 1961
2/37539 Lieutenant- Colonel J A Campbell is appom eJ Chief
Engineer, Eastern Command, and to be Temporary Colonel, 29th
October, 1960
3/37661 Lieutenant-Colonel W A Bunting is appointed Com
mander, Royal Army Service Corps, Headquarters Southern Com
mand, and to be Temporary Colonel, 7th November, 1960
4/47 Lieutenant-Colonel R P Woollard is appointed Range
Commander, Marahnga Range Support Unit and to be Temporary
Colonel, 22nd August, 1960
3/314 Lieutenant-Colonel W J Morrow, OBE, relinquishes
command 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment 27th June
1960, is appointed to command 3rd Battalion, The Royal Aus
tralian Regiment, and to be Temporary Colonel, 21st July, 1960
2/131 Lieutenant-Colonel S P Weir, M C, is appointed to com
mand 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment 28th June,
'960
2/286 Lieutenant-Colonel K A Peddle relinquishes command
3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, 20th July, 1960
4/7525 Lieutenant-Colonel D A C Griffith, TD, is appointed
to command 402nd Signal Regiment, 1st July, 1960
3/37551 Major G O O'Day is appointed to command Infantry
Centre, and to be Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel, 2nd July, 1960
3/37513 Major W Cox is appointed to command 1st Division
Signal Regiment, and to be Temporary Lieutenant Colonel, 25th
June, 1960
The age for retirement of 2/37511 Major (Temporary Lieu
tenant Colonel) T W Marston is extended to 18th April, 1960
ROYAL AUSTRALIAN INFANTRY CORPS
Lieutenant General Sir Ragnar Garrett, KBE, C B, Retired
List, is appointed Honorary Colonel of the Royal Australian
Regiment, 1st July, 1960

SOUTHERN COMMAND
General List.—3/77301 Brigadier R R Gordon, C B E , D S O ,
E D, relinquishes the appointment of Deputy Commander 3rd
Division, 30th November, 1960, is appointed Commander 3rd
Division, and to be Major General, 1st December, 1960
3/52003 Brigadier N A Vickery, MBE, MC, ED, is trans
ferred from the Unattached List (Royal Australian Artillery),
Southern Command with regimental seniority in accordance with
Army seniority (1st January, 1957) and is appointed Deputy
Commander 3rd Division, 1st December, 1960
