BRISBANE: The Warner
Brothers Movie World theme
park on the Gold Coast would
provide a timely boost to the
development of Queensland's
film. industry, Premier Wayne
Goss said yesterday.
Speaking at its opening, Mr
Goss said Queensland's film in
dustry was experiencing.a strong
resurgence, bringing economic
benefits to Queensland, particu
larly jobs, flow-on spending and
investment.
The $120 million park is Aus
tralia's biggest man-made attrac
tion and provides a behind-the
scenes look at movie-making. It
is being developed by Seaworld
Property Trust, Warner Proper
ties Australia 'and Village Road
show Studios.
The attractions will allow au
diences to participate in the cre
ation of special effects,
sound-effects dubbing, music
scoring and other film-making
processes.
Movie World will employ
more than 400 people.
Mel Gibson, Clint Eastwood,
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell
were among Hollywood stars at
the opening.
