NOTES
Saturday's matched concluded the arranged pro-
gramme of games. Carlton District Club secured
the minor premiership. The semi-final games will
take place on Saturday next, between Carlton District
and Beverley and Leopold and South Yarra,
on the Melbourne Cricket ground, before the commencement
of the league semi-final, and on the
North Melbourne Cricket ground, before the commencement
of the association semi final. A draw
will take place tonight to decide games and
grounds.
The match between Beverley and Caulfield was
played on the outfield ground Beverley eventually
ran out winners by 5-1 points Devcrlcy's goal
kickers were Tim Collins (4) lack Irwin (0 Lawrence
(2), Feain, and McKenzie The best players
for Caulfield were Turner, Thompson, Blamier,
Bruce, and Cooper
South Yarra, and University met at the University
Oval South Yarra had slightly the better of
the play in the first half, and at the interval led
by three (raines Rain fell during the whole of
the second term, and the University team, marking
and kicking the greasy ball much better than their
opponents, finished easy winners by 23 points.
For Unlversity, Shelley Balfe Whitford, Micky,
Birrell, Dtnehv, and Hurley were kept to most id
vintage, and for South Wales, Richardson (who
played a fine game in the first half Allan, Stephens,
Kenneth). Wilson, Marshal!, Atkins, Jack-
son, leech and Dudley wore the most prominent
Collingwood District and Collegians played at
Northcote park and, despite the adverse conditions,
some excellent football was shown. Best
players for Collegians were Grieved (nick), Du
Bourg and Helen (half back). Baker and Padgham
(forward), and Darr For Collingwood District.
World (.!), Sango, Bradley, Whitten, Ryder, and
S Pierson play ed best 'I he goal kickers for Collingwood
District were Itjder (6), Rush (2), Bro
there Boyd, and J Whitten, and for Collegians,
Trathin (2), Grieves, Foo and Kaighan.
Carlton District defeated Oakleigh by 12 points
The game was too one sided to call for any special
comment Carlton played a very even side, the
whole 18 displaying good form, which augurs well
for the finals Carlton's goals were obtained by
(Johnson (7), Wilkinson (a), Stevenson (3), Hodgkins
(3), Chalmers (2), M'Coll, Carter, and Kirkpatrick.
