The Hon. Barbara C. Hinton is a judge on the Superior Court of Contra Costa County in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on November 5, 2008. She was automatically re-elected in 2014 after running unopposed.
Hinton earned a bachelor's degree from Stanford University. She then continued her studies at Stanford Law School, where she completed a J.D.
She began her legal career as a defense attorney in the Office of the Alternate Defender of Contra Costa County in 1992. Then, in 2008, she transferred to the Office of the Public Defender, where she served as a deputy public defender until her appointment to the bench.
