Outdoor Adventures
Mother Nature is the biggest draw in Rogers, where you won’t need to look far to find outdoor fun in all four seasons. Just outside of town, Lake Atalanta beckons anglers with clear waters and plenty of piers to reel in channel catfish and rainbow trout. A network of trails around the lake lends itself to serene sightseeing. Venture out a little farther to reach Beaver Lake and enjoy boating and fishing for smallmouth, largemouth and striped bass. Towering limestone bluffs, natural caves and 785 kilometers of coastline make it a popular destination. Back in town, test your skills on wheels at the Railyard Bike Park, a compact park with a range of jump lines for beginner to expert cyclists.
At War Eagle Cavern on Beaver Lake, take a guided tour and check out the resident grey bats, which fly out of the cave in search of food come evening. Just down the road in Withrow Springs State Park, a hike down War Eagle Trail makes for an easygoing outing. It’ll take you roughly an hour to traverse the scenic riverside path through an Ozark forest to the top of a bluff for beautiful views of War Eagle Creek below.Arkansas’ largest state park, Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area, is also nearby. Enjoy kilometers of forest trails perfect for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, then stop by the visitor center for exhibits on the park’s landscapes and history.
Fascinating Local Finds
Rogers got its start in 1881 as a railroad town. Today, the Americana-tinged vibes of Downtown Rogers pay homage to this history, while trendy shops, restaurants and art studios highlight the community’s colorful present. Learn about Northwest Arkansas at the Rogers Historical Museum, an all-ages attraction featuring the restored Victorian Hawkins House and an interactive Children’s Gallery, among other curiosities. A couple of blocks north, the Daisy Airgun Museum features vintage products and artifacts of the Daisy company, plus a gift shop. Fans of the film “A Christmas Story” might recognize the vintage Red Ryder illustration on the front window. Grab a cup of locally roasted coffee at Onyx Coffee Lab to sip as you explore Downtown.
Dining and Entertainment
Foodies and music lovers will also find plenty to love in Rogers. The Railyard Live outdoor concert series at Butterfield Stage makes a perfect finale for a warm summer day spent downtown. Stop into local pizza joint The Rail before the show to savor creative pies and irreverent atmosphere. Just down the road, The Music Depot is a go-to spot to hear live jazz, blues, R&B, comedy sets and more year-round.
Roger’s Uptown neighborhood is another hot spot for shopping, dining and nightlife. The Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion – known to locals as just The Amp – hosts an eclectic mix of nationally touring bands, local acts and community festivals in its outdoor amphitheater. Catch a concert, then linger over craft brews and pub fare at Uptown Kitchen + Taphouse, or dig into slow-smoked meats and Southern-style sides at Wright’s Barbecue.
