A vibrant dining, entertainment and shopping hotspot just north of Houston

Conveniently located on Interstate 45 near Conroe, Spring and The Woodlands, the city of Shenandoah provides real value for travelers looking to visit the greater North Houston/Woodlands area. Just under 600 hectares across, Shenandoah has managed to pack in countless ways to stay entertained. Spend your days breaking out of intricately themed escape rooms, shopping at boutiques, strolling greenery-laden walking trails and dining at top-notch restaurants. Best of all, this fun is just a 20-minute drive from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and 30 minutes from downtown Houston – and available at more wallet-friendly prices than you're likely to find in the city and nearby.

      Dining Your Way

With more than 60 restaurants, Shenandoah’s food scene serves up a variety of cuisines at all price points, offering experiences ranging from quick and casual stops to sophisticated nights out. Three-time James Beard Award semifinalist Chef Levi Goode helms two of the city's upscale establishments: Goode Company Fish Camp, known for its fresh Gulf seafood and robust cocktail program, and Kitchen & Cantina, serving up authentic Mexican and South Texas cuisine. Whichever you choose, be sure to end your meal with a slice of the chef’s famed Brazos Bottom Pecan Pie, named the number one “Best Mail Order Pie in America” by Bloomberg News.

Beyond chef-driven experiences, Shenandoah’s Metropark Square and the adjacent Sam Moon Center make a great foodie stop. You'll find a range of casual cuisine options, from burgers andTex-Mex to Asian-inspired flavors. One standout is Crawfish Café, a Vietnamese-Cajun fusion stop that was awarded “Best Crawfish inHouston” by the Houston Press in 2022.

A Great Place to Shop, Play and Stay

Shop until you drop at five retail centers, each featuring a combination of big-box and discount stores, along with locally owned specialty shops and boutiques. You’ll also find plenty of upscale resale shops in the city – a value shopper’s paradise – and a variety of Asian- and women-owned businesses in Metropark Square and Sam Moon Center.

While you're there, stay and play awhile as you explore many of the city's indoor entertainment venues, which offer year-round, non-stop fun – rain or shine. Take on physical and mental challenges at BRKTHROUGH, solve escape puzzles at Escapology, get moving at Urban Air Trampoline & Adventure Park, compete against your friends and family at Game Show Battle Rooms, and enjoy an IMAX film at the AMC Cineplex. Find even more family friendly fun at Cheeky Monkees, Color Me Mine, Dave & Buster’s, Main Event and more.

You'll find a significant roster of hotels in Shenandoah, all within 5 kilometers of most of the area's major attractions. Centrally located and easily navigated, Shenandoah makes a great home base for excursions to Conroe, Spring, Tomball, The Woodlands and otherTexas gems and attractions you'll find just minutes away.

      Outdoor Adventures and Nearby Attractions

For some time in nature, explore W.G. Jones State Forest, a large urban forest with an array of trails for walking, biking, horseback riding and birding. Nearby, the George Mitchell Nature Preserve and Spring Creek Greenway create the longest contiguous urban forested corridor in the USA. Enjoy being on the water? Spend a day at Lake Conroe, known for its great fishing and water sports, or check out Lake Woodlands. Another great way to beat the Texas heat is to enjoy the water slides, relaxing lazy rivers and wave pools at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown in Spring.

Shenandoah’s lovely neighborhood parks, including City Park and Vision Park, feature walking and biking paths amid lush green spaces. Within Vision Park, take a quiet moment to appreciate Shenandoah Veterans Point, a beautiful and tranquil memorial and plaza overlooking Vision Park Pond. It’s dedicated to Shenandoah residents who have served in the USA’s armed forces.
