Visit Stack ExchangeWe're a little bit different from other sites. Here's how:
This site is all aboutgetting answers. It's not a discussion forum. There's no chit-chat.
Just questions...
...and answers.
Good answers are voted up andrise to the top.
The best answers show up first so that they are always easy to find.
The person who asked can mark one answer as "accepted".
Accepting doesn't mean it's the best answer, it just means that it worked for the person who asked.

Is there any way I can do this?
This may be too late, and might be better as a comment on CSM's answer, but I don't have enough reputation for that.
I've been taking the ferry from Scotland to Northern Ireland and back at least twice a year for the past 20 years and have never had to show ID, either with a car or as a foot passenger.
It is possible, but time-consuming, to travel by ferry (from Liverpool or Cairnryan) to Belfast, and then road to Ireland. You are unlikely to be IDed on the ferry if you sound British.
Focus on questions about anactual problem you have faced. Include details about what you have tried and exactly what you are trying to do.

Not all questions work well in our format. Avoid questions that areprimarily opinion-based, or that are likely togenerate discussion rather than answers.
Questions that need improvement may beclosed until someone fixes them.
Don't ask about...
All questions aretagged with their subject areas. Each can have up to 5 tags, since a question might be related to several subjects.
Click any tag to see a list of questions with that tag, or go to thetag list to browse for topics that interest you.
