This year, 1,600 metric tons of olives have been harvested from olive orchards in Nangarhar, expected to yield more than 190,000 liters of olive oil.

Officials at the state-owned agricultural company "Wadi Nangarhar" report that last year, 1,100 tons of olives were harvested, producing 135,000 liters of oil.

In addition, 35 tons of pickled olives are expected to be produced this year, compared to 30 tons last year.

Sayed Mohammad Naeem Mohammadi, Director of Wadi Nangarhar State Agricultural Company, stated: "Last year, olive oil production at the Emirati Agricultural Company of Wadi Nangarhar reached 135,500 liters, and the production of pickled olives totaled 30 tons. This year, projections indicate a 40% increase, bringing the expected production of pickled olives to 60 tons."

Officials further stated that they plan to plant 50,000 olive trees across four farms operated by the Wadi Nangarhar State Agricultural Company. They are also working to establish distribution branches in all provinces of the country to strengthen the domestic market.

Matiullah, a technical engineer at the factory, said: "Fresh olives are brought in daily from the orchards, and we continuously feed them into processing machines."

Additionally, the factory has created temporary employment opportunities for many citizens. Workers say that if olive cultivation continues to grow, long-term job opportunities will become available. They urge fellow citizens to buy and support domestic products.

Ezatullah, a factory worker, said: "In farms where some orchards have been destroyed, serious efforts are needed to restore them so that our factory can receive higher yields. The more the yield increases, the more job opportunities will be created for the public."

Anwar Shah, another worker, said: "We are currently working here. Olives are brought in by the ton. Our factory employs 40 workers, and during the harvest season, up to 50 people are involved in this section. We are happy with our work, as it allows us to earn an honest living for our families."

According to officials at Wadi Nangarhar Agricultural Company, last year’s devastating storms and tornadoes destroyed around 10,000 different types of plants across the company’s four farms.
