MUMBAI: After Anupam Kher, Zee has dropped Manisha Koirala as an anchor from its multi-crore game show Sawal Dus Crore Ka. Putting the onus of poor TRPs and unwilling sponsors on the ``lack of rapport and working relationship between the two anchors'', Zee has decided to discontinue the show from December 21. The channel now plans to relaunch the show with a new concept, format and an anchor who in all probability is film actor Ashutosh Rana.``In deference to public opinion on the programme as well as the anchors and respecting the wishes of the sponsors, the company has decided to discontinue with the programme as originally envisaged. The company has decided to terminate the contracts with both the anchors,'' says Zee spokesperson Sainath Iyer, in a press release. The release adds, ``While we respect both the anchors in their creative and artistic domains and acknowledge their celebrity status, we feel sad that their individual ego should have marred or impaired the world's largest-to-be entertainment show''. Manisha Koirala, when contacted in Hyderabad where she is currently shooting for a film, said she was extremely hurt and upset for being made the scapegoat for the show's poor performance. ``If the show was a failure because of us, why have they now changed its concept and format?'' she demanded. She says she repeatedly brought the show's poor quality and tacky production to the attention of the director, script writer and even Chandra. ``When I first caught the telecast of SDCK in the second week of November, I was appalled by its poor and tacky production. There were flies sitting on the participants' faces and many of them were sweating not because of the tension but heat in the studio. I immediately faxed a letter to Chandra, lamenting the poor quality of the show,'' she says. Meanwhile, sources close of Anupam Kher say that the actor has moved court seeking an injuction on his removal which ``breaches his contract''. In the release, Zee admits that the programme has ``failed to cut ice with the market and the audience''. ``After several attempts at injecting fresh and new life to the show through injection of new resources, including continued upgradation of production & technicals, the show has failed to meet the market expectations.'' The release further states, ``Although there may be few other reasons for the poor performance of the show, lack of rapport and the lack of the working relationship between the two anchors has been a major cause for the poor performance of the show. ``As the audiences have often pointed out, both the anchors stood ill at ease. The intended environment of camaraderie somehow gave in to uneasy truce, hurting the show itself as well as the company,'' it added.
