Two earthquakes hit Manipur, with tremors felt across the Northeast. The first quake measured 5.7 magnitude and struck near Yairipok in Imphal East. The second earthquake of 4.1 magnitude hit Kamjong district. Cracks appeared in several buildings, including a school in Thoubal where a relief camp was running. Other states reported no damage.
Manipur's governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla extended the deadline for surrendering illegal and looted weapons until 4 pm on March 6. This extension, in response to resident requests, is the final opportunity for voluntary compliance to promote peace and security. Over 300 weapons have been surrendered so far amidst ongoing ethnic clashes.
