Manipur's governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla extended the deadline for surrendering illegal and looted weapons until 4 pm on March 6. This extension, in response to resident requests, is the final opportunity for voluntary compliance to promote peace and security. Over 300 weapons have been surrendered so far amidst ongoing ethnic clashes.
At least 15 firearms were surrendered in Manipur after Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla urged residents to return looted and illegal weapons. The weapons were handed over at various police stations in Imphal West, Imphal East, and Churachandpur districts. The central government imposed President’s Rule after political instability, following ethnic clashes that led to over 250 deaths and thousands displaced.
