Manny Pacquiao’s storied boxing career has come to a close.

The world’s only eight-division boxing champion has hung up his gloves, making the announcement on Toni Talks.

“Boxing career ko, tapos na.

“Matagal na rin ako sa pagbo-boxing. Yung pamilya ko, lagi sinasabi na tama na,” said the 42-year-old sentor, who last fought in the squared circle back on August 21 that saw Pacquiao bow to Yordenis Ugás.“Nagtuloy-tuloy lang ako kasi passionate ako sa sport na ito.

“Magsu-support na lang ako ng boksingero para magkaroon tayo ng champion ulit,” the founder of MP promotions continued.

Pacquiao continued that he will be focusing on his campaign to become the country’s president in the upcoming 2022 national elections.

Definitely, it has been an amazing 26-year run for the boxing icon.

Pacquiao began his prize-fighting career at the age of 16 years old, making his debut in a card in Sablayan, Philippines.

Since then, he ruled weight divisions, toppled legends, and became one of the finest pugilists to ever grace the ring.

He won world titles in different divisions as he jumped from flyweight to bantamweight, super featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight with ease.PacVargas-Manny-Pacquiao Manny Pacquiao calls it a career: 'Tapos na' Boxing News - philippine sports news

Overall, Pacquiao accumulated a 62–8–2 record while generating approximately 20.4 million in pay-per-view buys and $1.29 billion in revenue.

During the post-fight presser, the Fighting Pride of Sarangani Province hopes to have left one legacy.

“It might be the end of my career in boxing but this is my statement to people all over the world,” he shared.“We entertain in the ring but the most important thing is what we have done to others and how we can help them.

“A lot of people are hungry and starving and experiencing difficult times. It’s how we help them and show them hospitality and love. Always remember this, God is love and that we have to love each other,” he continued.

“Thank you to all of you and thank you boxing.”
