Fine Update: Ben Simmons fined $1.4 million by 76ers, most in NBA history
It has been just a few weeks since the NBA season officially started, and Ben Simmons is already the most fined player in NBA history. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the 76ers have fined Ben Simmons $360,000 for every missed preseason game alongside extra fines for missing practices and meetings. Collectively, the penalty has come to $1.4 million, with more likely on the way.
ESPN Sources: The 76ers have fined Ben Simmons $1.4M for his absence from four preseason games (360K each) and levied numerous team fines for missed practices, on-court workouts and meetings. He hasn’t earned any money since returning to the team on October 11.

Before Simmons, the most fined player in NBA history was Vladimir Radmanovic, who was fined $500,000 for snowboarding and hurting his shoulder, violating his contract. Simmons was also suspended without pay from tomorrow’s season opener against New Orleans. The 76ersplaced $8.25 million owed to Simmons in an escrow account, which they have been pulling the fines out of.
While they can’t fine Ben Simmons anymore for not being there, they can still fine and suspend himfor his actions today if they continue. If the fines continue at this same rate and Simmons does not show any willingness to play or actually try, he could be fined another $2.1 million by the end of October. This situation is sure to get even worse over the coming weeks.
