EarthSpark underwent a notable shakeup in production for its second season. Dubuc officially departed as executive producer and story editor, having already stepped away from the series halfway through the first season to work on a new project. Mae Catt also did not return as story editor, and was succeeded in the position byAmy Wolfram. The entire stable of storyboard directors and staff writers were also replaced: taking their places are directorsVinton T. Heuck,Will Ruzicka,Scooter Tidwell, andSheldon Vella, and writersIan Busch andMatt Wayne. Animation duties were transferred to Indian animation studio88 Pictures; series CG SupervisorMichael Launder explained that the change of studio was due to the fact that the stresses of production during season one had caused "the mental health and well being" of the Icon and Nick teams to suffer.[2]
