Cunning but cowardly,Starscream (スタースクリームSutāsukurīmu) has long sought to overthrowMegatron and take his place as leader of theCloud World Decepticons, but has never had the strength to make his move. His luck finally changed when the power ofSARA granted him a newTriple Changer body, boosting his jet mode's already impressive speed and granting him additional armor and firepower in the form of a new tank mode. Starscream attended a rally organized by Megatron, and complimented the Decepticon leader after his call to arms against the Autobots ofMetropolis. Megatron was unmoved by Starscream's flattery, being in the know of Starscream's deviousness.Uprising Starscream had already planned to snatch away SARA for himself, information that had already somehow reached Megatron without Starscream knowing.Resolve

Starscream was a major player in the assault against Metropolis, devastating the city's third district with an aerial bombing.Raid ThoughThundercracker had equal parts in destroying Starscream's assigned district, Starscream attempted to take all the glory for himself, pestering Megatron with his gloating during the attack. Megatron made it clear that Starscream, having deviated from Megatron's attack plan, was in no position to feel proud. When Optimus came upon them, Starscream tried to take down the Autobot leader on his own, only to be brought down by a well-placed punch. Megatron then told Starscream to find his OWN archenemy to do battle with, and took on Optimus. Starscream lingered, winding up getting hit by one of Optimus's blasts as it was dispersed by Megatron's sword.Fate

As Starscream lay injured, news reached the battlefield that the Decepticons had already succeeded in abducting SARA. Megatron sounded a retreat, his objective having been met. Though Starscream tried to convince his leader to stay behind and "settle old scores" with Optimus, Megatron recognized that Starscream merely hoped that Optimus would eliminate him. Megatron told Starscream they would discussed Starscream's attempt at treachery... later. Both Decepticons then took off, though Starscream didn't miss the chance to mock Optimus's failure to protect SARA.Resolve

The Decepticons holed themselves up in a decrepit building in the Underground, only for the Autobots to track them down and storm the place. As a team headed byJazz attacked him, Starscream whined that Megatron was never around when the Decepticonsreally needed him; the Decepticon leader was at that time in the building's basement with SARA.Leap

The toy transforms into a Cybertronian jet fighter. He comes with two spinning, triple-barreled "assault cannons" which can combine to form a larger hand-held weapon that is geared to spin its two triple-barrels together, and resembles theNeutron assault rifle fromFall of Cybertron. Each of the weapon halves features two5mm posts, as well as a peg-hole on their hollow sides, while the combined form features another peg-hole at the top, but makes the peg-holes on the hollow sides inaccessible. Starscream features numerous 5mm peg-holes, such as his hands, forearms, lower legs, and wing undersides.

In an undocumented feature, Starscream's tail-fin is attached via a 5mm post on its underside, and can be detached to reveal three additional peg-holes, with two of these peg-holes being just the right distance to accommodate the combined assault cannons/rifle, with the tail-fin pegging on the rifle's top peg-hole. This allows the weapon to mount on top of the vehicle mode, and store on his back in robot mode. He wasrepurposed asGeneration 1 Starscream inIDW Publishing'sRobots in Disguise comics.

Starscream transforms into two vaguely futuristic vehicles: a jet with an opening cockpit and back-mounted rocket boosters, as well as a tank with a rotating turret and a spring-loaded "Vertex Cannon" that launches its missile when the barrel is compressed. The cannon can also be swung out and deployed for use in jet mode. He lacks Doubledealer's blaster and sword accessories, but instead comes with two ofMasterpiece Starscream'snull-ray cannons that can plug into the5mm posts on his shoulders/vehicle sides, cannon base, and wings. Starscream was sold exclusively throughe-HOBBY.
