He can get any girl he wants... evenyour girlfriend.

Ultra Magnus was bitter and envious that his brotherOptimus Prime had been granted theMatrix of Leadership. After tricking Optimus into lowering his guard, Magnus forced him into a combination with the goal of draining all his power and the Matrix with it. But to each of their surprise, the result of this combination wasOmega Prime, a unique individual bringing out the best of each brothers' abilities but not hampered by their disagreements. A truecombiner rather than a meresuper mode, Omega Prime possesses neither Magnus's temper nor Optimus's reserve. He is a jocular superman with all the power to back up his quips, limited only by the capacity of the two brothers to cease bickering inside his head long enough to push in the same direction.

More powerful than the sum of his component parts, Omega Prime's importance in the fight against evil cannot be over-estimated, stretching beyond even his own universe.

He's also got areally big sword.

He's neither making a list, nor checking it twice!

Convalescing on an island after a brutal fight with Ultra Magnus, Optimus was attacked byMegatron and theDecepticons. Ultra Magnus showed after having followedSky-Byte via a hidden tracking device. Feigning compassion and understanding his brother's heavy burden in carrying the Matrix, Ultra Magnus pretended to offer Prime his helping hand, only to seize it and force the two of them to combine. What he didn't expect, though, was that Optimus had as much control over their new body as Magnus did. His plan to steal the power of the Matrix backfired and he had to cooperate with Prime to defeat the Decepticons.Ultra Magnus: Forced Fusion!

He's the guy they make those portals so big for.

Some time after the defeat of Galvatron, Optimus Prime formed theDimensional Patrol from the ranks of the Autobots who had stayed behind on Earth (apparently including Side Burn and Prowl), as well as additional experts in transwarp technology, to defend the planet from those who would do it harm via the "temporal and spatial nexus" in Earth's proximity. Unfortunately, Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, and several members of the Dimensional Patrol were abducted byUnicron. Here Omega Prime and the others were to battle each other in theCauldron, where their energy would feed and repair the shattered body of the Chaos Bringer.Sam's Club exclusive Optimus Prime profile

Thanks to the efforts ofTrailbreaker andSilverbolt, Omega Prime and the other abductees were able to escape.Escape In the core of Cybertron,Primus andAlpha Trion summoned Omega Prime to helpOptimus Primal in his struggles againstUnicron and theCauldron.Homecoming

As theUniverse War continued, Omega Prime fought alongside Autobot and Maximal alike against the Chaos-Bringer's generals. When the Cauldron suddenly began dissipating, Omega Prime did his best to guide as many Children of Primus as possible through the vortex to Primal's technorganic Cybertron, personally hurling Side Burn and Prowl (not the ones of his home universe) through the portal.Revelations Part 2

During his own transit, however, he was swept up in an inter-dimensional matter interlink by the former Mini-Con namedOver-Run, deposited on the Cybertron ofa dimension threatened by a gigantic black hole which marked Unicron's passing. Omega Prime arrived in time to use his boot of justice to stopNemesis Prime from using theDead Matrix to kill Primus and revive Unicron.Revelations Part 1

Omega Prime later joinedSentinel Maximus,Skyfall, andDownshift in fighting theMini-Con Civil War, on the asteroid colonies surrounding Cybertron.Revelations Part 4 Gatling lasers, rocket storms, Omega arsenal blasts...all proved fruitless when Unicron himself joined the fray.Revelations Part 5 Omega Prime and Sentinel Maximus did their best to hold off the Chaos-Bringer, until Primus himself emerged from the core of Cybertron, transforming his planetary form into arobot mode. Unicron fled, and Optimus, Magnus, and Sentinel Maximus planned to pursue him through space.Revelations Part 6

"Alright, Gigatron, let'sgive them a hand."
"...I change my mind; I'm evil again."
The events of theRobots in Disguise cartoon occur in Japanese continuity as noted above, except that they take place in theworld of the original Generation 1 cartoon where the Transformer cast are time travelers from theBeast Era toTokyo in the year2000, and Omega Prime is named "God Fire Convoy".

With Devil Gigatron reformed and working with theDimensional Patrol, God Magnus and Fire Convoy eventually learned to merge with him as well, going even further beyond God Fire Convoy to createDevil God Fire Convoy.Epiloge

Robots in Disguise (2001)

(thumbnail)
He's a man with the lights and sounds of three men!
  • Super Fire Convoy (2000) /Optimus Prime (Super Class, 2001)
  • God Magnus (2000) /Ultra Magnus (Super Class, 2001)
  • God Fire Convoy (Gift set, 2000)
A combination ofCar Robots Super Fire Convoy and God Magnus (brought toHasbro markets asRobots in DisguiseOptimus Prime andUltra Magnus), God Fire Convoy (Omega Prime in Hasbro markets) is available in a two pack of the two smaller robots. However, the two-pack was short-lived and the easiest way to get it was to buy the two separate toys individually.
The two figures feature several lights and sounds devoted to the combination, including a separate set of sounds from Ultra Magnus's "Blue Bolts" weapon and light up eyes for the Omega Prime head. Though theoretically the figure has enough articulation for posing (even including ankle articulation his components lack), it is top-heavy and prone to slumping backwards under its own weight, and best left standing in a static A-frame posture.
The figure has some holes in its hands that happen to line up with pegs on Gigatron (Megatron), allowing theEmperor of Destruction to be used as a giant gauntlet. This wascanonized in thefinal chapter of theLegends comic series with the Devil Gigatron (Galvatron) version, though Omega obviously cannot hold up an entire Ultra Class figure unaided.
Sonokong released both figures individually inKorean markets with Hasbro's light retooling and English-language internals and modified Takara packaging. A single unique deco change was made with Optimus Prime's Japanese "Fire Department" (消防庁) tampograph (present on both Hasbro and Takara versions) being replaced with the number "113."

Clear plastic only makes himmore load-bearing!
  • God Fire Convoy Special Clear Version (2000)
Released as aToys"R"Us Japanexclusive, the God Fire Convoy Special Clear Version (ゴッドファイヤーコンボイ スペシャルクリアバージョン) set featuredSuper Fire Convoy andGod Magnus cast in metallic speckled translucent plastics with color changes. The main draw of the set is theSuper God Sword from the show's finale, previously only available in very limited numbers as part of a mail-away contest withTV Magazine. This sword was a blue redeco of theMaster Sword from the Japanese version ofFortress Maximus in theoriginal Generation 1 toyline with a new (floppy) long handle.

He is his ownsexy black repaint!
  • Black Super Fire Convoy (Super Class, 2000/2001)
  • Black God Magnus (Super Class, 2000)
  • Black God Fire Convoy (Giftset, 2000)
These hideously rareblack redecoes were produced in three separate campaigns both individually and as a gift set.Black Super Fire Convoy is the most common, offered through three different contests byTV Magazine.Black God Magnus is the most rare, with only ten units known to have been produced under murky circumstances. The two-figure giftset includes both figures, now together combining to form Black God Fire Convoy. It was just as limited in its availability as Black Magnus, with the only ten units known to exist being offered as prizes in a scratch-card contest thatTV Magazine ran until early November 2000.
Evidence exists that an additional combination was advertised, namely Black God Magnus combined with a retail Fire Convoy, still simply named "Black God Fire Convoy."[1]

Universe (2003)

  • Optimus Prime (Sam's Club exclusive, 2003)
  • Ultra Magnus (Sam's Club exclusive, 2003)
Both of Omega Prime's components were redecoed into the 2003Universe toyline: the opaque red plastic sprues onUniverse Optimus Prime were replaced with yellow (most paint apps including the inner "cab" robot's red chest remained identical, as did the lightbars), and much ofUniverse Ultra Magnus's lighter blue was replaced with a very dark blue, often confused as black.
Notably, this version of Optimus Prime wasrepurposed intoShotimus Prime inissue #62 of theofficial magazine for theTransformers Collectors' Club and laterYellow Splendid Convoy in theninth issue of theweb comic for theGenerations Selects toyline.Draw your own conclusions as to what that means for Omega.

Cybertron

You'll just have to trust us this isn't the first one again.
  • Ultra Magnus & Optimus Prime (Costco exclusive giftset, 2006)
This reissue-adjacent exclusive set unceremoniously plonked into the then-currentCybertron toyline packaged the duo together in one giant box.Cybertron Optimus Prime utilized that figure'sUniverse paint applications with the yellow colors flipped back to red, producing a deco nigh indistinguishable from the originalRobot in Disguise release save for Optimus' knees and waist red paint applications instead of yellow, and a black bandolier in Super Mode.Cybertron Ultra Magnus meanwhile retained his (also difficult to spot)Universe deco in full. In theUnited States, the box set was only available inCostco for slightly less than the two individual figures. InAustralia, it was carried by Myer, costing less than two leader classCybertron figures, but slightly more than the cost ofRobots in Disguise Optimus Prime andRobots in Disguise Ultra Magnus at 2001 prices.
TheCybertron branding left it rather up in the air whether this Omega Prime constituted a new iteration of the character in theCybertron franchise's fiction or what until the Facebook edition ofAsk Vector Prime settled the issue in2015 by seizing on the resemblance to his originalRobots in Disguise deco torule it the appearance of the original guy in his variousconvention comic adventures.

QC errors so strong Takara returned him for you!
  • Accessories: Super God Sword blade, Super God Sword guard, Super God Sword handle (God Fire Convoy), Super God Sword handle (Brave Maximus)
In this reissue giftset,Super Fire Convoy andGod Magnus have slightly different plastic colors in the name ofcartoon accuracy and the chrome has been replaced by metallic paint. The tip of theSuper God Sword is now a smoky translucent purple to better match its appearance inthe show's final duel. God Fire Convoy also comes with a collector card based on his packaging art.
This set is riddled withquality control errors, from poorly-aligned parts of the robots themselves, to electronics that play the wrong sounds, to even inaccurate callouts and pictures on the packaging.TakaraTomy took the unprecedented step of issuing a public apology and a refunded recall of the set.[2]

Legacy

(thumbnail)
Way more deserving of nostalgia than Y2K,Survivor, and hanging chads.
  • Omega Prime (2025)

The fourthHasLab crowdfunded figure in theTransformers brand, the 13-inchLegacy Omega Prime is an incredibly cartoon-accurate representation of the character and is also an update of the original toy (handshake combination included). He now features improved articulation, including a waist swivel, and better overall stability. Just like the original, he is composed of co-packed newLegacy incarnations ofOptimus Prime andUltra Magnus. His eyes, chestplate, and antennae retain theirvacuum metallization. Like the original, Omega Prime can once again boost his firepower by plugging Ultra Magnus's "Autobot Bluebolts"—now a fully-transformingWeaponizer toy in its own right—onto his shoulders.
Omega Prime was revealed onJanuary 30,2024, with the crowdfunding campaign lasting untilMarch 14. Its shipment date is set to be Q4 2025, coinciding with the 25th anniversary ofCar Robots. The primary goal was 10,000 backers. At 13,000 backers, the set would include a 23.5"Matrix Blade sword. 16,000 backers would unlock a pair offlight stands that could either separately hold each robot or be clipped together to represent the roadway inside theGlobal Space Bridge. The core set reached 50% funding in only 24 hours and was funded overall within 10 days (February 9)—vastly outperforming the records of all prior Transformer HasLab projects.[7] The Matrix Blade tier was unlocked onFebruary 16, 2024.[8] The Global Space Bridge tier was unlocked onFebruary 28, 2024.[9]
OnMarch 7, HasLab designerEvan Brooks revealed in a Hasbro Pulse livestream that due to widespread fan demand (and more importantly a patch of unused space he andHisashi Yuki found in the set's white plasticsprue), Omega Prime would now include Bluebolts's traditional paired white missiles to replicate Omega's second pair of shoulder cannons, amongst the original weapon's many, many other modes.[5] The non-firing missiles are essentially continuous lengths of5mm wide pipe with a 3 mm connection point forGenerations standard-issueFire Blast effects on one end. Additional tabs along their width allow the missiles to stow on Bluebolts's back in robot mode.
San Diego Comic-Con 2024 revealed a surprise addition to the set, months after the campaign ended - aTitan MasterCerebros, compatible with the command chair on Optimus Prime's truck ladder.
At the closing bell on March 14, the set clocked in at 28,230 backers, beating the previous Transformers record by quite a fair margin (Deathsaurus, with 27,442) and coming in second only toMarvel Legends Galactus as the most successful project in HasLab history.[10]
Omega Prime first started shipping to backers, beginning with those living in New Zealand, in March 2025.

Notes

God Fire Convoy similar poses.jpg
  • Omega Prime's combinationstock footage incorporates movements from both Optimus Prime’s & Ultra Magnus’ own transformations stock footage.
  • It would appear that God Fire Convoy, Omega Prime's Japanese counterpart, was treated as more of an extension of Fire Convoy's being (as is more common in Japanese media for combined forms), including having the same voice actor (Satoshi Hashimoto) for both. Omega Prime, on the other hand, is granted a different actor (Daniel Riordan) to Optimus Prime (Neil Kaplan) and is performed as a distinct consciousness to Optimus himself.
