Man, slowly I'm running out of stupid "Grab your purse"-captions...

Eagle Eye (akaHawking andEclipse) lives up to his name when it comes to aerial combat. His exceptional vision, capable of focusing on tiny objects up to 20 miles away, allows him to lock his weapons systems onto any target he can see. Despite his amazing visual acuity, he seems to turn a blind optic to the various interpersonal issues among theAir Patrol, the team under his supervision. They just flat-out don't get along, and Eagle Eye does nothing to try and make them work things out. He barely even gives them orders, for that matter. He's practically the team's commander in title only. He reasons that it ultimately doesn't matter, because despite it all, the Air Patrol is still one of the Autobots' most effective aerial defense forces, and to his way of thinking, that's far more important than everyone getting along.[1]

Eagle Eye then introduced himself as "Hawk" (ホークHōku) and offered Magnificus the chance to join his faction. Notes

Maybe they thought it'd take eagle eyes to notice this..
  • Most—if not all—of the toys pictured in the 1990 HasbroTransformers catalog are unfinished prototypes or mock-ups, and a variety of differences from final product pop up. In Eagle Eye's case, the main difference is that the catalog has him with a red robot mode face rather than the final toy's yellow.
  • Eagle Eye's vehicle-mode art in issue #2 of theMore than Meets the Eye profile books is actuallyGeneration 2SkyscorcherEagle Eye's jet mode in the Generation 1 character's base colors, with the Skyscorcher's black stripes added. For the trade paperback, this art was heavily edited to better resemble the Micromaster.
  • A Hasbro computer listing suggests that "Equinox" was also considered as a trademark-friendly name for theThrilling 30 incarnation of Eagle Eye before they settled on "Eclipse".[3]
  • "Eclipse" was also one of the possible names in theFan Built Bot poll that producedWindblade.
