That's a bridge we'll burn when we get to it.

Airazor was among the Maximals under the command ofApelinq whenUnicron arrived to devour theirhome and claim theTranswarp Key. She regrouped with Apelinq,Optimus Primal,Cheetor, andRhinox as Unicron's army invaded, taking out one of the twoPredaconScorponok drones pursing Apelinq with Primal. Apelinq declared he would hold the line against the approachingScourge and passed command to Primal, ordering the Maximals to flee to the stars to keep the Key out of Unicron's clutches. The Maximals were saddened by the sacrifice of their leader, but as they and others fled in a ship, Airazor affirmed that Apelinq's sacrifice, "no matter the cost" would become their oath.

Upon arriving onEarth, the Maximals split the Key into two pieces to be kept by two groups for safekeeping, with Primal leading Cheetor and Rhinox to Peru while Airazor and a few others hid elsewhere. Due to unknown circumstances, her group did not last, leaving Airazor isolated, and, without contact with the other Maximals, led her to believe she was the last of her kind. Humanity noticed Airazor over the centuries and carved a statue in her likeness, which would hide Airazor's half of the Key. In 1994, the statue was unearthed and brought to a museum on Ellis Island inNew York City.Elena Wallace quickly determined that the statue was not of any known human civilization and snuck into a lab after work to conduct her own research on it, which led to the statue crumbling to reveal the key fragment and unwittingly summon theTerrorcons. Scourge soon arrived withBattletrap andNightbird to claim the key fragment, and though they were successful, they decided to flee when Airazor arrived to reinforce theAutobots led byOptimus Prime. In the aftermath of the fight, Airazor gave the Autobots her condolences for the loss ofBumblebee and explained the nature of the Terrorcons to Elena andNoah Díaz, and that Scourge only had half of the Key thanks to the Maximals splitting it. Airazor gently asked Elena to lead them to the site of the second key fragment once she realized the young woman had deciphered clues to it.

Every post-apocalyptic gang of survivors has that one guy who hides that they got bitten by a zombie.

The next day, Airazor flew to Peru alongside the Autobots and humans who rode aboardStratosphere. She helped monitor Noah and Elena's infiltration of the nearby city to get to the second key fragment, only for the Terrorcons to attack. As the battle went poorly for the Autobots once again, Airazor used her fire breath to destroy a bridge and forcibly stopped a further duel between Prime and Scourge. However, the Terrorcon leader thought fast and successfully shot Airazor with a portion of Unicron's dark energy, which slowly rotted her body and began to corrupt her. Airazor nonetheless arrived in time to defuse a standoff between the Autobots and her old Maximal comrades, who she was delighted to see again, but grimly reported she was all that was left of her detachment of Maximals. Elena noticed the growing corruption on her wing, but Airazor insisted she would be okay, despite the corruption beginning to affect her mind. After the group made camp as a human village allied with Primal, Airazor spoke to him privately. Primal admitted that Prime wasn't who he expected, but Airazor pointed out that they both had lost so much, and that Primal likely would act the same if he had another chance to save their planet from Unicron.

WHYHAVE YOU COME?!

By morning, unfortunately, Airazor finally succumbed to Scourge's corruption and attacked the humans. She kidnapped Elena in order to deliver the last key fragment to Scourge, who then set her after her comrades. Airazor violently engaged Primal, who was able to use his bulk and strength to grab her in a crushing embrace. Though Primal was distressed at what needed to be done, Airazor assured him it was okay and ordered him to do it. Primal reluctantly complied, crushing Airazor's spark and finally giving her peace again. As the others arrived, and Elena, Cheetor, and Rhinox grieved the loss of their friend, Primal morosely stood over his friend's corpse, resolutely repeating their oath, "no matter the cost." Airazor would later be avenged when Prime killed Scourge in battle and prevented Unicron from claiming another world and with it the Transwarp Key.Rise of the Beasts

Airazor's involvement in the preceding events, or events mostly similar, were also chronicled in the books "Mission at the Museum" and "The Search Is On".

Toys

Studio Series

SS Concept Art before it was cool
  • Airazor (Deluxe Class,2023)
  • Movie:Rise of the Beasts
  • Hasbro ID number:97
  • TakaraTomy ID number:SS-107
  • Accessories: 2 photon blasters, "Peruvian Jungle Discovery" backdrop (1st version)
  • Known designers:Evan Brooks (Hasbro),Yūya Ōnishi (TakaraTomy)[1]
Released as part of the nineteenth wave ofStudio Series Deluxe Class figures, Airazor transforms into a mechanical peregrine falcon in twenty-three steps, sharing the transformation engineering of the priorKingdom Airazor toy. As such, she includes two "photon blasters" which can be handheld or mount on her forearms via5 mm ports; these parts remain there in beast mode because this toy lacks the hip portsKingdom Airazor used for storage. In robot mode, the bird head restricts Airazor's waist rotation if properly tabbed in. Her backdrop showcases where the Autobots and Maximals first meet.
Airazor's official robot mode stock picture is mistransformed, with the robot feet not being turned around. This error is also carried over to the way she is packaged in box. The box renders also feature a much darker color scheme with dark brown and black plastics compared to the champagne gold of the final product, as well as omitting the silver Maximal symbol on her right forearm.
As with allStudio Series Rise of the Beasts figures, Airazor is based on concept art and is one of the more inaccurateStudio Series toys compared to her final design, including a robot mode design not seen in the film.
Hasbro revealed the figure onJanuary 17, 2023. A minor packaging variant of Airazor was repacked in Wave 22, no longer using plastic-free packaging.

Buzzworthy Bumblebee

Just needs somestilettoes to complete the look.
  • Bumblebee / Airazor / Autobot Mirage (Jungle Mission 3-pack, July 2023)
  • Accessories: 2 swords
  • Known designers:Shogo Hasui (TakaraTomy)
Included as part of the secondTarget-exclusiveBuzzworthy Bumblebee "Jungle Mission 3-pack", this Airazor is another Deluxe Class iteration of the character. She converts into a very well-proportioned mechanical peregrine falcon using a different transformation scheme, with the bulk of her wings becoming her robot legs. As a result, her bird wings are not as articulated as herKingdom/Studio Series counterparts, remaining static aside from a simple flapping motion. Playing around with the joints can allow for more poses, such as aperching position. Untabbing her bird head also allows for a neck turn, though this version lacks an opening beak.
She includes two small swords for her robot mode to wield. They can store on her wings in both modes. Though not shown explicitly in the instructions, the feathers on the back of her legs can fit all the way into the groove, where it will softly lock into place.
The Maximal symbol on Airazor's chest/bird noggin tends to beprinted on rather haphazardly, usually rotated counterclockwise by about five to ten degrees. Airazor is also misassembled: her upper bicep pieces are on the wrong side. As the parts use ball joints and mushroom pegs, they can be swapped so the details on the upper arm line up properly.
This set also includesBumblebee andMirage.

  • Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Collector Set (2023)
To celebrate the release ofRise of the Beasts, watchmaking manufacturer Kross Studio partnered with Hasbro to make a 10-piece limited edition tourbillon watch designed with many elements taken from the film and its visual identity, such as green highlights, the Maximal insignia,Cybertronix symbols and Incan-inspired engravings.
The watch comes enclosed inside a perfectly-sculpted replica of the Airazor artifact as seen in the film, intentionally replicating the resting place of the first half of the Transwarp Key to be found. The replica features a pressure mechanism on its head that opens and closes its "wings" to reveal the watch bathed in a green LED light.
This item sells for 98,000 Swiss Francs, which is, as of early 2025... just a bit under$111,000 USD. Yes,one hundred and eleven thousand dollars. Which quite possibly makes this THE most expensive piece ofTransformers merchandise ever made.

Notes

(thumbnail)
We thought the feathered look was more an '80s thing.
  • Airazor's design evidently changed after her merchandise was ready for production, as none of the toys developed forRise of the Beasts feature the movie's beast mode design, which is a lot more feathery than the toys' smoother, metallic form. The final head is actually based on a golden eagle instead of a peregine falcon.[2]
  • She hasCybertronix text across her body, such as on her chest which reads "In the absence of light, darkness prevails".[2]
  • Airazor was not intended to have a robot mode in the film, to the point not even concept art for it is known to exist.[3] The toy designers had to come up with ones for the toys.[4]

  5. The name is likely the result of an oversight. Most of the robot names inRise of the Beasts were taken from the Hungarian translation of theG1 Marvel comics and theKingdom animated series. The film's translator was working with an incomplete Wikipedia list of name translations which neglected to include Airazor'sKingdom nameLégszelő ("Air Slicer"), and she was thus given a new name for the film.
