Israel Dejene Gebru

Israel Dejene GebruSince April 2018 I’m a postdoctoral research scientist with Facebook Reality Lab, Pittsburgh, USA. From 2014 to 2018 I was a Ph.D. student within the PERCEPTION team at INRIA Grenoble, advised byDr. Radu Horaud. I defended my PhD in April 2018. My research interests are in audio signal processing, computer vision and machine learning. I am particularly interested in joint processing of audio and visual data for human-robot interaction. In 2017 I did a six-month research internship atOculus (Facebook) Research in Pittsburgh. Before starting my Ph.D., I received a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Addis Ababa University in 2008, and a M.S. in Telecommunication Engineering from University of Trento in 2013. I also worked as an engineer at ZTE cooperation from 2009-2011. I received thebest paper award at the IEEE Fifth Joint Workshop on Hands-free Speech Communication and Microphone Arrays, San Francisco, USA, 1-3 March 2017, for my paperAudio-visual Tracking by Density Approximation in a Sequential Bayesian Filtering Framework.
