Mega Man Network Transmission is the estranged cousin of theBattle Network series. Returning to the series' roots, the developers hoped to show a new generation of Mega Man fans the joys of a platforming title... and instead created an unintentionally challenging monster of a game that rivals even the most grueling of classic titles.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Look into whether LightMap files are used.
  • Document the many unlocalized text (not the dialogue)

Sub-Page

Miscellaneous tidbits that are interesting enough to point out here.
Notes

Unused Graphics

Present in/EnvMap/, these were likely used for graphical testing. Interestingly, the second image seems to be a picture of Chicago, with the John Hancock Center on the far left.

Motion Test

Mega Man Network Transmission-Motion Test-GREE08 2023-11-07 22-52-35.png
There is an unused Motion Test debug menu which shows animations for different models in the game. There is no text so all options are invisible.

It can be accessed with the following Action Replay code:

The logo got a different design in the international title screen. In the European versions, the credit for Capcom USA was removed.

Other Differences

  • At the start of the game, the Japanese version has a start-up warning about eye strain, seizures, and the importance of taking breaks; this screen was replaced with the text "Licensed by Nintendo" in the international versions.
  • In the Japanese version, leaving the title screen idle for some time will show the first opening from the anime.
  • Some voiced lines that involves Japanese names and terms were removed in the international versions. Voice clips where Lan says "Rockman" are removed since all the voice acting is in Japanese for all versions. The first part of ProtoMan's introduction cutscene also has voice acting removed to remove an instance of "Blues". Additionally, Lan's voiced monologue at the start and end of the game was removed.
