Unused Graphics

MM2PF PharaohMan UnusedIdle.gif
While used, Pharaoh Man's hand on his shield pose can't be properly seen in-game due to the shield's effect covering it.

MM2PF MegaMan ShootDown.gifMM2PF ProtoMan ShootDown.gifMM2PF Bass ShootDown.gifMM2PF Duo ShootDown.gif
All four playable characters have an animation for shooting down. The one for Duo is actually used but is covered up by effects.

MM2PF MegaMan Hadouken.gif
It looks like it was planned for Mega Man to be able to do some Hadouken-like attack, though no possible projectile was found. A Hadouken move was previously featured inMega Man X, where it is fired much like in theStreet Fighter series.

MM2PF ProtoMan ShieldAttack.gif
Seems it was planned that Proto Man could use his shield as an attack. The gaps between sprites are very rough and seem to be missing frames. Judging by the number of similar sprites, it's possible that the sprites were tested with the shield in slightly different positions before the attack was scrapped. In the last frame of the first row, Proto Man appears to be both attacking with and carrying his shield, oopsie!

Unused Music

A guitar track for Cut Man's theme.

Regional Differences

Four version of the game were released: the Japanese version, the North American version, the Asian version and the South American version (labeled as "Hispanic" in MAME).

Region-Specific Screens

Megaman2pf fbi screen.pngMegaman2pf parental advisory screen.png
The US version, after the Q-Sound screen, shows these two screens before going to the intro. The first one is the usual FBI'S "WINNERS DOESN'T USE DRUGS" screen used in majority of the games released in the US at the era, while the second one is a parental advisory screen that tries to warn kids about the presence of violence in the game.

None of the screens are present in the other versions, as after the Q-Sound screen, the game goes directly to the intro.

Ending

MM2TPFEnding.png
The ending cutscenes outside Wily's destroyed castle actually have text in the Japanese versions, but in international versions, it conspicuously doesn't.

Credits

The Japanese version has a special credits sequence if you finish the game without continuing and without letting the timer run out during the final Dr. Wily fight. In the other versions, the standard credits sequence is always shown.

Miscellaneous

Coinage Setting

Other Versions US Version
1 COIN 1 CREDIT
2 COINS 1 CREDIT
  • In all versions of the game sans the US set, by default, the player needs only to insert a coin to play the game. In the US version, the player needs to insert two instead. Seems that Capcom U.S.A. wanted to really milk the player's money.

Other

  • Like in theThe Power Battle, some character voice clips are absent in the US and Hispanic versions, especially the ones where Dr. Light acutally talks. The Asian version got the worst shame where any instance of characters speaking Japanese was removed or replaced by generic grunts.
  • The Hispanic version has the text translated in Spanish.
  • In the Japanese version, when performing hisUp +Attack uppercut attack, Mega Man says "Rock Upper!", referencing his Japanese name, Rockman. In other versions, he simply says "Upper!". Curiously, the "Upper!" voice clip is also used in the Japanese version during the Mega Man/Bass 2-player ending.
