...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.

Bloons Tower Defense 6 is, unsurprisingly, the sequel toBloons Tower Defense 5. But this time, it'sin 3D!

Hmmm...
To do:
  • There are several freeplay rounds with custom layouts that are functionally impossible to reach (such as round 10,000, which always has 100 Fortified BADs).
  • More unused graphics and models that got taken out in version 24.0.
  • Document the prototype builds have been uncovered, such as builds 71 and 102.
    • There is quite a bit of content on this page that appears to be from prototypes, these don't belong here and should be on theprototype page instead (unless it was/is present in either the launch or current versions of the game).
  • Assets and other data unique to Bloons TD 6+ (the Apple Arcade version) are also found in the game files of original BTD6.
  • An unused quest dialogue for Race Mode appears in the CSV file for version 36.0.
  • List and oddity about Spillway's icon differing from the final map slightly.

Unused Tracks

Monkeys in Space

Spaaaaaaaaaace!
This track was allegedly cut from the final game because one of the founders of Ninja Kiwi, Stephen Harris, does not like space maps. It was going to be Intermediate difficulty. The model for the track was removed in version24.0, while the textures and thumbnail for the track only existed in early builds.

BTD1

It's not easy being green
As the name suggests, this is a recreation of the track from thevery first Bloons Tower Defense game. This was most likely used for testing. The thumbnail for the track only exists in builds from early 2018, though the thumbnail itself seems to be a remnant from an even earlier build. In the early 2018 builds, the map model included several decorative objects for testing purposes, such as houses, flowers, and a windmill, the models of which were later used for other maps such as Monkey Meadow and Town Center.

Test Maps

There are two additional test tracks,TestMap andTestWaterMap, both of which have the same path layout as BTD1. TestWaterMap has a mask (defined area for tower placement, such as the path or the ground) entirely of water, while TestMap has no mask at all.

Prototype Maps

Included in a prototype build of the game, a bunch of early versions of maps included in the final game exist.

  • Off The Coast. More of the sunken ship is unobscured compared to the final, and the map goes for a rocky and grass terrain with trees rather than a beach with some cliffs compared to the final. There is a rock the ship is crashed into, and there appears to be less placeable areas for towers on the ship than the final map.

  • Underground. Slightly rougher, the rocks are a light gray rather than a dark blue. There are overall less crystals and the minecart is slightly higher.

  • Hedge. No dart monkey statue, there are no edges to the garden, and the path is grass rather than stone.

  • Tree Stump. Nearly identical to final. Some trees are missing or placed differently.

  • Town Center. Nearly identical to final. Some trees are missing or placed differently.

  • Four Circles. The sand pit is absent, as well as the timer. Water is a darker blue with white speckles.

  • Streambed. Rougher than final. There is a more rocky separation between the grass and gravel, the water is darker, and the dinosaur skeleton is entirely absent, with the removable skull being a rock in this version.

  • Spice Islands. Nearly identical to final. The water has a different texture and looks less flat.

  • Rake. Rougher than the final. The raked paths are 3 pronged, and the rake on the map reflects this too. The trees have more sparse leaves, and there is a tree present in the bottom left. There is a generic rock where the monkey statue is present in the final. There are also large koi fish visible in the pond.

  • Park Path. A slightly edited copy of its BTD5 Mobile rendition. There are less trees and the bridges are stone, not wood.

  • O.U.C.H. The water has already been drained, and the pool is more rounded. There is a road edge marker at the top and middle lane marker at the bottom of the map, where the final has the middle lane marker through the middle. The road is much brighter.

  • Muddy Puddles. Brighter, with even brighter paths. The paths look more like paths than the tire tracks used in the final version, and the water is a murky gray instead of green and brown. There are no overhanging leaves.

  • Logs. From more of a top down angle. The water has light streaking across it, and the mushrooms use less bright colours. Less foliage hangs over the map.

  • In The Loop. Nearly identical to final. The wheelbarrow is tipped over.

  • End Of The Road. The map is a much brighter off yellow, rather than tan. The water is brighter, and the cacti are on the edges of the map rather than scattered around, are larger, and have much harsher shading. There are rocks scattered about and no grass.

  • Cubism. The map looks like a painting entirely in the way it is textured and uses simple colour blocks like an actual art piece. The final is made of brick and designed to look more like a walkable art piece rather than a literal painting, featuring gray bricks around actual water, as well as a grate. The track appears to go off the map at a few points in the prototype version.

  • Cracked. The ground of the map and trees are the same as the final, but the props are different. The rock in the center is more cracked and a lot darker, and the bones are smaller than in the final.

  • Cornfield. Extremely different than the final. Either the path is thicker or the track is significantly shorter. This map is also in a top-down view. The scarecrow has a smile, smaller eyes, and a brighter fur. There is no distinct corn paths, and it appears they are all present at the start instead of the one in the middle being removed by default to allow tower placement. There are no fences around the field, the grass is yellow, and the path is more muddy than the final.

  • Chutes. Brighter, and far less overgrown with vines and moss. The bottoms of the ponds are visible and light is speckling on the surface of the water. The statues and their pedestals are entirely different.

  • Another Brick. The brick wall isn't worn out, and the top doesn't even align with the bricks on the side. The path is more of a curb than an actual pathway, and there are trees rather than large piles of bricks behind the wall. No pigeons are present.

Unused Quest

24 Seconds of Le Blons

There is an unused second part to the Challenges quest "5 Minutes of Frozen Over", which takes place in Blons and is played on Medium. All heroes and monkeys are available with no quantity or upgrade restrictions. It has the description "You made it to the end! But could you do more damage?"

It has no associated thumbnails.

Beast Handler sounds

The Beast Handler has many sounds that are associated with beasts of a specific terrain type or size. However, two sounds, namely a sound for small land beast placement and a sound for medium water beast upgrade, are unused.

Oddities

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Perhaps better elaborate on the Ice Monkey as a magic tower oddity, as the text below is literally a to-do just slapped in here.
  • Add final designs to compare with Instamonkey icons.
  • There are some oddities with the Ice Monkey that suggest that it was originally planned to be a magic-class tower instead of a primary-class tower:
    • Some of its weapons are flagged as belonging to a magic tower instead of a primary tower.
    • The game forcibly crashes if a tower is given an upgrade combination that is normally impossible (such as 3-3-3), but the Wizard Monkey, Druid, and Alchemist won't cause a crash if at least two of the paths are tier-2 or below (such as 3-2-2), because these towers are meant to work with the Monkey Academy's Wizards Library upgrade. However, this trait is also shared by the Ice Monkey, suggesting that this tower was also planned to be affected by Wizards Library.
  • Some of the instamonkey icons feature tower designs are different from the final designs.
    • Moderately different from final, featuring minor differences such as the orange stripe on the gun being longer, the googles being sharper, and the addition of a bipod on the bottom of the gun. Its armor is also seemingly orange instead of grey.

    • Slightly different; it's tack crosses are black instead of red.

    • Has a unique black cape instead of the green cape, matching its tower portrait.

    • Like its portrait, the druid is standing among vines.

    • Like its portrait, the druid is standing on a branch bearing fruit.

    • Pretty different from the final, it has a red skull and crossbones as well as rim, 2 tubes on each quadrant rather than one, black vents, and an overall more cone like shape than the final's cylindrical.
