Val Kent was the artist of thecomic book seriesTime Surgeon. She was in a relationship with the series' writerSonny Robinson. Despite being called the "coolest" and "hottest couple in comics", years of working together put a strain on their friendship.

At the time ofTime Surgeon's 5th anniversary in2017, Val and Sonny were special guests at a major comic convention inBirmingham. Just before they began their panel, Val and Sonny were abducted by theTwelfth Doctor, who wanted to show them whattime travelling was really like.

First, they visited theJurassic Era and witnessed the natural beauty of prehistoric Earth before being chased back tothe TARDIS by a hungryTyrannosaurus rex. They witnessed the mating dance of theAbraxas Manta Whales, observed the collision ofMyrax andAurora, were given a tour ofM'noa byQuartopelaxtyxwell, and rodeKangastangs onXebedee.
