TheSupreme Alliance of Eastern States was a51st century political coalition of nations opposed to theIcelandic Alliance.Magnus Greel served as the Supreme Alliance's brutalMinister of Justice. While working for the Alliance, the alien scientist DrSa Yy Findecker pioneeredtime travel through the use of theZygma beam, though this eventually turned out to be a dead end.

The Supreme Alliance brought down the Icelandic Alliance by having its commissionerIngrid Bjarnsdottir killed by thePeking Homunculus, which precipitatedWorld War VI. For a time, the Alliance dominated most of the Earth before an alliance of their victims was formed against them. The Supreme Alliance itself fell after theFilipino Army advanced onReykjavik, an event which either theFourth Doctor or one of his three incarnations witnessed. Using information provided by hisfifth incarnation, the Doctor was able to avert the outbreak of war. (PROSE:Doctor Who and the Talons of Weng-Chiang;AUDIO:The Butcher of Brisbane)

In the Icelandic Alliance, it was commonly referred to as "the Southern Alliance", which angered Greel. (AUDIO:The Butcher of Brisbane)

Greel used atime cabinet to escape to19th centuryChina. The cabinet eventually fell into the possession ofGeorge Litefoot's father. Following his death in1873, theyounger Litefoot inherited it and brought it with him back toLondon, where it remained until1889. (TV:The Talons of Weng-Chiang)
