Ron Grainer (11 August1922-21 February1981[1]) was an Australiancomposer who worked for theBBC in 1963.

AfterDesmond Briscoe recommended Grainer to theDoctor Who production team, he wrote theDoctor Who theme/score, whichDelia Derbyshire went on to perform.

He also wrote the theme music for other noted series such asMaigret,Steptoe and Son,Man in a Suitcase,The Prisoner andPaul Temple. His film credits includeThe Omega Man.
