History[[edit] |[edit source]]
At some point with travelling companions beforeSteven Taylor andDodo Chaplet, theFirst Doctor passed close by Refusis on their way toShaba, the Doctor remembering it as looking hospitable, friendly, and welcoming, and wishing the TARDIS had landed there instead. (PROSE:The Ark)
Inthe 57th Segment of Time, Refusis II was chosen by thehuman race as their new home after the evacuation ofEarth on theArk. However, after theMonoids took over the Ark, they planned to colonise the planet themselves and destroy the humans and the Ark. The Refusians retaliated againstTwo, a Monoid scout who became hostile. The Monoids landed in force, but began fighting amongst themselves, which resulted in the deaths of many of them. The Refusians allowed the two species to colonise Refusis II so long as they lived together peacefully. (TV:The Ark)
TheFirst Doctor tookDodo Chaplet to see Refusis II after the colonisation. (PROSE:Tarnished Image)
TheMuseum of the Last Ones had specimens ofextinct species from Refusis II. (PROSE:The Last Dodo)
Behind the scenes[[edit] |[edit source]]
- For unknown reasons,Paul Erickson'snovelisation of the story never makes mention of the planet's number — always referring to the planet simply as "Refusis". While the televised version occasionally drops the numeral, it's used often and prominently enough to establish the intended name of the planet as "Refusis II". Later works likeThe Last Dodo also retain the numeral.
