Lant Land was the sixth short story in theShort Trips anthologyShort Trips: Life Science. It was written byJonathan Morris. It featured theFifth Doctor,Tegan andTurlough.
Plot[[edit] |[edit source]]
The TARDIS lands in anapartment in atower block but its instruments indicate that it is in the middle of nowhere.The Doctor,Tegan andTurlough are welcomed bySimon andJoanne, an uncannily attractive couple who were expecting visitors and who criticise Tegan and Turlough's names as unbelievable, suggesting that they change them to Yvonne and Derek.
Simon and Joanne show the trioLant Land, asimulation of ordinary life which viewers eventually entered by downloaded themselves into theLants. As thetelevision is without a plug and thebooks are blank, Turlough deduces that they have arrived inside the simulation, but the Doctor corrects him. Some of the Lants wantedrevenge for their bodies being stolen and put themselves into the real people. Everything happening in the apartment has been watched by the real people living in Lant Land, to whom the Doctor pilots the TARDIS.
