Coloth was aDoctor Who spin-off focusing on the character ofColoth, from theSecond Doctor storyWar Crimes included in the originalShort Trips prose anthology. It also featured thePlume Coteries andBirdhemoths fromNate Bumber'sFaction Paradox short storiesA Farewell to Arms andA Farewell to R.M.S., and theirinfinite Library.

The latter was first seen inWhite Canvas, released several years before the official debut of the firstColoth story, but which featured minor roles for the Library, Coloth, andMaritsa, who would go on to become a main character in the series alongside Coloth andCallum. Also prior to the proper debut ofColoth, Arcbeatle releasedSonnenblumen, a10,000 Dawns short story which starred Coloth as a main character, and also featuredRich theBirdhemoth.

The series made its official debut on29 October2023 with the short storyThe Cactus and the Corpse byAristide Twain, published in the anthologyHorrors of Arcbeatle alongside the debut of several other spin-offs. The story served as acrossover with theAuteur series.

The series' first "full" release wasThe Book of the Snowstorm, released in2023.
