The customizable Firefox New Tab page can display shortcuts (sites you save or visit the most), popular articles and your recent activity (including recently visited pages or bookmarks). The New Tab page is the default Firefox start page, unless you haveset a different home page.

The Firefox new tab page can displayyour local weather in the upper right corner, providing quick updates directly in your browser. This feature is currently available in most regions across the world.

Shortcuts

TheShortcuts section displays sites you save or visit frequently on Firefox. You may also seesponsored shortcuts, if enabled in your settings. These sites will also appear when you click in the address bar to start a search.

When you first use Firefox, you’ll see links to top-ranking websites and popular search engines. These are eventually replaced withShortcuts, which are links to frequently and recently visited sites from your browsing history.

Recommended stories

TheRecommended stories section displays content curated by custom machine learning tools and Firefox’s recommendations team. These stories are not informed by your browsing data. You can view or bookmark stories, remove them, or open them in a new window.

Recommended stories on the Firefox New Tab page is a feature currently available in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain and India. We’re working to bring it to other countries.

Recent activity

TheRecent activity section may include your recently visited pages, bookmarks and most recent downloads. In each tile, Firefox will show a download icon, the bookmark star or the recent visit clock icon.

Customize your New Tab page to hide or display content

Click thegearpencil icon in thetopbottom right corner of the New Tab page. A panel will open, showing content you can customize. Click the toggle next to a section to switch it on or off, to show or hide that section. Other settings are available by clicking on theManage more settings link at the bottom of the panel.
