As per the report of the Technical Group by the National Commission, the population of Chandigarh is projected to be 1,259,000, or 1.26 million, or 12.59 lakh, as of July 1, 2025. Chandigarh is thefifth-most populous UT in India and is in 32nd position among 36 states and UTs. Chandigarh’s population is projected to reach 13.62 lakh in 2036.
The size of the population of Chandigarh is equivalent to that of Eswatini, the 160th mostpopulous country in the world.
In 2025, the sex ratio of the total population in Chandigarh will be 116.323 males per 100 females. There are 677,000, or 677k, or 6.77 lakh, males and 582,000, or 582k, or 5.82 lakh, females in Chandigarh.Chandigarh has 95,000, or 95k, more males than females.
