Description[]
- "Charming place. Delightful fauna."
- ―Obi-Wan Kenobi, on Vanqor[6]
Located in theVanqor system in the far reaches ofthe galaxy'sOuter Rim Territories,[1] Vanqor was atemperate,[4] rocky,[6] and overcastplanet with a surface marked by smokycrystalline formations.[5] Swirlingsilica-duststorms[4] caused the world to have ablue-gray hue when viewed fromspace.[6] Vanqor was located sixparsecs away from the closest planet,Florrum,[1] and was thehomeworld of thegundarks, fierce, aggressive creatures known for their overwhelming strength who inhabited the planet'scaves.[8] Also inhabiting some of Vanqor's caves were bio-luminescent organisms that lived on the cave walls.[9]
History[]
- "Our intel indicates that Count Dooku has placed a listening station on Vanqor."
- ―Mace Windu[6]

A pair of gundarks prowling the surface of Vanqor
In theyear21 BBY,[10]Jedi MasterObi-Wan Kenobi andKnightAnakin Skywalkershot downCountDooku, leader of theConfederacy of Independent Systems, over Vanqor, forcinghim to crash-land hisship on the planet's surface. However, theirshuttle was also forced down during the ensuing battle. On Vanqor, Dooku abandoned hissolar sailer and evaded theJedi by hiding in a cave filled with gundarks; when they pursued him inside, Dooku usedthe Force to bring down stalactites, separating the Jedi and buried Skywalker, whoselightsaber Dooku took before leaving the cave and collapsing its entrance. Outside, he was found byHondo Ohnaka and hisgang ofpirates, who agreed to take him to Florrum. Although the Jedi emerged unscathed, they were attacked by an angry gundark. While using the Force to build a barricade, the Jedi accidentally opened a fissure and noxious greengas began filling the cavern. As the pair tried to dig their way out of the collapsed opening, the gas began to overwhelm them and they collapsed just as the cavern entrance exploded from outside as Skywalker'sPadawan,Ahsoka Tano, and herclone forces blasted the cave open. After the pair exited the cavern, the clones eliminated the gundark by collapsing the entrance once more.[1]
In21 BBY,[10] anattempt on Jedi MasterMace Windu's life byBoba Fett resulted in theVenator-class Star DestroyerEndurance crashing onto Vanqor.[11] There, its commanding officer,AdmiralKilian,Clone CommanderPonds, and anavigation officer were taken hostage by Fett and his team ofbounty hunters, consisting ofAurra Sing,Bossk, andCastas. While Windu and Skywalker weresearching the wreckage for survivors, Fett made another attempt on the Jedi Master's life that left both Windu and Skywalker trapped under debris until they were rescued by Jedi MasterPlo Koon, Tano, and the104th Battalion.[12]
At some point, theQuarrenpirateKragan Gorr arrived on Vanqor and rescued theMirialanSynara San off the streets of Vanqor.[13] San said that her and her father used to hunt on the planet.[14] She was grateful to him, but eventually considered her debt to Gorr to be paid by the time of theFirst Order-Resistance War.[7]
