Trios was ahumanfemalemonarch who ruled theKingdom of Shu-Torun during theImperial Era and theGalactic Civil War.Born into theShu-Torun royal family, Trios was aprincess and the youngestchild of theKing of Shu-Torun.
In the aftermath of theBattle of Yavin, Trios and her elder siblings,PrinceMonthan and PrincessHollian, participated in theking's plan toassassinate theSith LordDarth Vader during histour of theShu-Torun royal palace. Their plan failed, resulting in thedeaths of Trios'father and her siblings. TheDark Lord of the Sith kept Trios alive; as the sole-surviving child of the late king, she inherited her father'scrown and was anointed asqueen ofShu-Torun. With her accession to thethrone, Trios became a vassal of theGalactic Empire.
The succession of Queen Trios was soon challenged by theore-dukes of herhomeworld, resulting in aplanetary civil war known as theShu-Torun War. With the support of Vader and theImperial Military, theShu-Torun Loyalist/Imperial Delving Fleet achieved adecisive victory over the rebelliousnobles, killingDukeRubix and bringing thevolcanic, resource-rich planet under Trios' control.
Trios remained loyal to the Empire during its conflict with theAlliance to Restore the Republic. Serving as the Empire'sspy, the queen infiltrated the Alliance and gained the trust of theAlderaanian princessLeia Organa. During theBattle of Mako-Ta, Organa discovered Trios' true loyalties and sought retribution by plotting anattack on Shu-Torun. Trios was ultimately killed by Organa while attempting to prevent the Rebels from destroying theSpike, the backbone of her planet's infrastructure.
Biography[]
A visit from Vader[]
Princess of Shu-Torun[]
- "Trios, my third child… your blood will serve inother ways."
- ―The Shu-Torun king, to Trios[1]

Trios was the youngest child of the king of Shu-Torun.
Princess Trios wasborn as the third and youngestchild of theking of theplanetShu-Torun, amining world in theMid Rim. She had two elder siblings, her brother PrinceMonthan, who as the eldest child stood to inherit theirfather'scrown upon hisdeath, and her sister PrincessHollian, who would inherit the role of celebrantwarlord of the planet'sWar-Faith. During the reign of theGalactic Empire, the planet supplied the Imperials withore for their many building projects, but when theore-dukes of Shu-Torun became resistant to the Empire's tithes, theking chose to turn against the Empire.[1]
When theroyal family learned that theSith LordDarth Vader was visiting Shu-Torun in order to ensure that the planet's ore quotas were going to be met, theking devised a plan to kill the Imperial representative. Believing he had a surfeit of children, the king decided that Trios would be the one to greet Vader and lead him into a trap set in theroyal palace, with a backup plan where she would lead him to die with her in the tunnels within the castle. Trios obeyed her father's commands, and was waiting for Vader with two guards when he landed on one of the palace's landing platforms in hisTIE Advanced x1starfighter. TheSith was displeased that the king himself was not present, but Trios blamed her father's absence on his age and began leading Vader toward the palace's abyssal rooms below the planet's surface, where a ball was being held to showcase Shu-Torun'sculture. En route, she offered to have servants take a small package that her guest was carrying, but he refused, stating that he must personally deliver the gift to the ruler of Shu-Torun.[1]
Vader's guide[]
- "No, you can't! The King! My father!"
- ―Trios, to Darth Vader[1]

Trios was willing to sacrifice herself to kill Vader.
Upon entering the subterranean hall where the ball was being held, Trios gave the command for those present to begin with the statelyShu-Torun counter-bore waltz. When Vader complained that the dancing was unnecessary, she explained that such practices were an important part of Shu-Torun's culture and were needed to keep the ore-dukes in line. As she and Vader moved across the room, they were stopped byDukeRubix, who demanded that the SithLord dance with his daughterBixene. Trios advised the duke against pushing the matter, but when he persisted in his demands, Vader usedthe Force tolift Rubix into the air and whirl him around before dropping him. As Vader questioned if anyone else wished for such a "dance", the king's plan moved into action as a tunneling vessel broke through the hall's ceiling, causing the guests to scatter.[1]
Pretending to act as rebels opposing both the Empire and the royal family, a number ofassassins working for the king exited the craft and attacked Vader. The Sith however, was able to dodge their attacks and then reflect them back at the troops usinghislightsaber, killing all of his opponents. With the first part of the plan to kill Vader having failed, Trios dutifully began enacting the second phase, and claiming that the traitors would be watching thelifts, led Vader into the palace's tunnels. As the pair supposedly moved toward the king, Vader complimented Trios, and was still impressed with her when the doors of the tunnel they were in sealed andmolten lava began pouring in from the ceiling. He then drew his lightsaber and began cutting a hole through the tunnel's wall, knocking Trios unconscious with a strike to the head when she tried to convince him that there was no escape for either of them.[1]
An unexpected promotion[]
- "Your father's crown. Now yours, Queen Trios."
- ―Darth Vader[1]

Trios lost her hand while trying to kill Darth Vader.
Instead of leaving Trios to burn in her father's trap, Vader carried her prone form to the doors of her father's throne room, where he killed the guards. As she awoke, the princess realized that her father's plan had failed, and aimed to shoot Vader in the back with ablaster pistol. The Sith sensed the attack coming however, and was able to slice Trios' right hand off at the wrist before she could pull the trigger. He then turned and cut the doors to the throne room open as Trios protested, revealing that hisassassin droids0-0-0 andBT-1 had infiltrated the palace upon his arrival and killed everyone in the throne room while Trios was unconscious, including her father and siblings.[1]
With her family dead, Trios was the hereditary queen of Shu-Torun, and so as she grieved at her father's side, Vader handed her the package he had been carrying with him the whole time. Inside there was only a chunk of rock, which held no meaning to the queen until Vader explained that the gift was a piece of the planetAlderaan, which had also stood against the Empire, leading to itsdestruction by theDeath Starsuperweapon. As Vader used the Force to crown Trios, she complained that the ore-dukes would still resist the Empire's tithes, to which he explained she would put down their rebellions with aid from the Empire. He then left her alone in the throne room with only the warning that she should not forget that she and her people served the Empire.[1]
Civil war on Shu-Torun[]
Vader returns[]
- "So as queen and warlord, I say this: We must retreat. The ore-barons are too strong."
- ―Trios[3]

Trios accompanied Vader on the frontlines during the civil war.
Despite her backing from the Empire, the orebarons quickly rebelled against Trios's rule, beginning acivil war on Shu-Torun. Under orders fromGalactic EmperorPalpatine, Vader personally returned to lead Imperial forces in putting down the insurrection with the aid ofGrand GeneralCassio Tagge andDoctorCylo. As she now held her sister's role ofwar-minister of her people, Trios chose to position herself on the frontlines alongside Vader, as otherwise her people would lose respect for her. After they witnessed the toppling of an ImperialAll Terrain Armored Transport in a battle against one of the ore-barons'delving citadels, she declared that their foe was too strong and demanded a retreat. Vader refused, as the attack had merely been a distraction, which had allowedTulon Voidgazer—one of Cylo's agents—to position explosive drones on the ceiling of the cavern above the citadel. The drones then detonated, collapsing part of the ceiling and allowing molten magma to pour down on the citadel and destroy it.[3]
Upset that such a valuable and ancient asset as the citadel had been destroyed, Trios returned with the others to the royal palace. There Vader informed her that they would continue to destroy citadels until the barons surrendered. Trios objected, as without the citadels her planet would never meet Imperial quotas after the war, but Vader ignored her objection and reminded her in front of her subjects and Cylo that her role was to obey the will of the Empire. The Sith then made to leave, but Trios followed him into an empty room and asked that he treat her with respect in front of her subordinates, as otherwise she would have little power after the Imperials left. Vader stated that he would be respectful in front of her subjects as long as she never questioned him in public, which she agreed to and left.[3]
Attack on the ancestral retreat[]
- "This is blasphemy! That's one of Rubix's vessels. He's opened fire on a sacred site."
- ―Trios[7]

Trio was attacked in her family's ancestral retreat during the civil war.
Trios and Vader then sent aholographic message to the ore-barons showing them the fate of the delving citadel the Imperials had destroyed and demanding their surrender before moving to theancestral retreat of the Shu-Torun royalty to plan their next move.Morit Astarte, another agent of Cylo, questioned the choice to spend time at such a militarily insignificant location, but Trios countered that she wanted to remind herself of what she was fighting for, as the retreat was considered a sacred site and one of the world's greatest wonders. Despite its status as a place of peace, the retreat was then attacked by theLava Leviathan, a vessel owned by Rubix's family and sent to killed Trios.[7]
Horrified at the blasphemous desecration of the retreat, Trios made to flee in ashuttle, but was surprised when Vader also boarded with Morit and his sisterAiolin Astarte. Instead of fleeing, the trio positioned the shuttle above the Leviathan and dropped down onto it, using their lightsabers to cut through the hull and enter the vessel. They then fought through Rubix's men onboard and cut holes in either end of the vessel, leaving it to sink into the magma from which it had emerged as Trios picked them up in the shuttle. Upon arriving back at the retreat, Trios was reprimanded by herchamberlainJooli, who claimed she should not be putting herself in such danger. Vader then threatened the chamberlain, but Trios apologized for Jooli and explained to her subject that she had the Imperials protecting her and so need not worry. She then requested thatRubix's delving citadel be the next that Vader destroyed, as punishment for the attack on the retreat.[7]
The final battle[]
- "You're not going to shoot me."
"Of course not. I'm queen now. I have people to shoot for me. Kill the traitor." - ―Jooli and Trios[8]

Trios led her troops in the final battle of the civil war.
Trios and Jooli traveled to Rubix's citadel in thepalatial drill in the second wave of theShu-Torun Loyalist/Imperial Delving Fleet so that she could observe the final victory without the risk of being on the front lines. En route to the citadel, thecombat drill carrying Vader and his men veered off course due to sabotage by Cylo and plunged into a seam oflithoporoite. Unaware of Cylo's betrayal and knowing that the ore would never support the weight of Vader's craft, Trios assumed the Sith was lost. The doctor then contacted her via hologram and recommended that the attack be called off until they received word from Vader, as he had secretly been working with the barons, and promised them the battle would be prevented.[8]
Trios declared that as queen it was her job to finish the war with or without Vader, even when Cylo informed her that she would no longer have control of the Imperial forces. Jooli then informed her that he retained the power to veto her commands due to her young age as ruler and stated he would not allow her to advance without the Imperials. She argued with the chamberlain, but when he would not change his mind she offered him one last chance at blaster point. Jooli then warned her that she should know her place, believing that she would never be able to shoot him. Agreeing that she would never shoot him herself, the queen lowered her weapon and gave the order for the soldiers present to execute Jooli, which several of them swiftly did.[8]
A victorious queen[]
- "Forward! We can win!"
- ―Trios[9]
With no one left to hold her back, Trios then led her troops from the frontlines in battle against Rubix's forces at his citadel. Despite the fact that the baron had sent his elite guard to deal with Vader below, the battle still began to look grim for the loyalists. During the battle she was knocked to the ground by an explosion, but as one of her troops helped her up she witnessed the arrival of Vader's combat drill through the ceiling above. With the return of her Imperial allies, Trios knew that she had won the day and was proven correct when Vader forced Rubix to surrender immediately upon Vader's arrival on board the citadel. The baron ordered his men to allow Trios and her troops on board and declared he would recognize her rule. When she reached the traitor, he began to give a speech about his failure, but tired of hearing the baron speak Trios ordered his immediate execution for the thousands of deaths he had caused. After the loyalist soldiers gunned Rubix down, Trios declared that Bixene would take over his holdings despite the fact that the line of inheritance would normally pass control to the eldest son.[9]

Trios had Rubix executed for his crimes.
With the war won, Vader and most of his troops left Shu-Torun, and Trios walked him to his shuttle to say goodbye. She promised Vader that none of the barons involved in the war would survive her wrath, but that their family lines would continue to keep things in order. To aid her in this, Vader assigned astormtrooper captain to remain with her and offer advice. As Vader mounted the ramp to his ship, she asked one final question, wanting to know if Vader thought he had chosen well when he made her queen. The Sith simply replied that she had been the only choice before entering his vessel, but 0-0-0 remained and pointed out that there were multiple possible meanings to Vader's response. As he began to explain what he meant, the queen ordered that he leave, reminding the droid that while she could not destroy Vader, she did possess the power to destroy him. When 0-0-0 told her that she would go far, Trios corrected him, saying she had no intention of going anywhere.[9]
The crystals of Jedha[]
Mining the broken moon[]
- "If anyone can bleed Jedha's husk dry of kyber, it's us."
- ―Trios[10]

Trios advised the Empire on mining kyber crystals on Jedha.
Some time after the conclusion of the Shu-Torun war, Trios was residing in the royal retreat with several of her advisors and a large guard, presiding over several affairs, when Vader returned to the world to assign Trios the task of having her specialists mine the ruins ofJedha. He also instructed her to leak information to therebels and act as a mole for the Empire to infiltrate the Rebellion. Vader intended to use thebattle for Jedha as a false flag operation in which Trios aided the rebels in building theirarmada, which the Empire could easily destroy once the Alliance assembled.[6]
The mineral extraction efforts stalled after meeting with resistance from members of the rebelliousPartisan movement. The queen joined ImperialCommanderKanchar as an advisor on an inspection of the Imperial forces of CommanderBefa, who was in charge of the Jedha mining operation, but had so far failed to deliver a single shipment ofcrystals. Befa feigned surprise when the pair arrived on hisStar Destroyer, and attempted to sweet talk Trios and kiss her hand, but was stopped by a slap from Kanchar.[10]
After the queen introduced herself, Befa presented a small box of successfully harvestedkyber crystals to Kanchar, who was satisfied to see them until he learned that the box contained the entirety of the mining operation's crystal output so far. Sick of his colleague's incompetence, Kanchar then relieved Befa of his post before murdering him in front of Trios, who was unimpressed by the act of violence. Kanchar then tried unsuccessfully to intimidate Trios, who instead spoke about her suitability for the role and stared out of the Star Destroyer'sviewport at the remains of Jedha, the mantle of which had beenruptured by the Death Star's superlaser[10] in1 BBY.[2]
Preparations[]
- "The resonators would only pick upunnaturally high concentrations of the gems. What haven't you told me commander?"
- ―Trios, to Kanchar[11]

Trios brought miners from Shu-Torun to Jedha.
Trios' forces and the Imperials then droppedcrystal resonators onto the surface of Jedha that detected a large concentration of kyber crystals in what had once been theCatacombs of Cadera. Curious as to why such an unusually high amount of crystals were located there, Trios demanded to know what Kanchar was not telling her. The commander revealed that the former leader of the Partisans,Saw Gerrera, had stolen an impressively sizeable amount of crystals from the Empire and stored them there before his demise when the Death Star fired on Jedha. After Kanchar spoke of his respect for Gerrera, Trios announced she would prepare an exploratory mission to the catacombs.[11]
The pair then viewed a Shu-Torun mining team preparing to travel to Jedha, and after discussing theenvironmental suits that the miners were wearing, Trios wondered at how civilians were still surviving on the hazardous surface of Jedha. Kanchar then declared a new Imperial edict that Jedha was prohibited, meaning anyone the Imperials encountered there should be treated as a rebel and killed. Trios later approached Kanchar to let him know that her drill citadel was ready to drop to the surface, letting him give the command as she had done it many times before and knew he would enjoy it.[11]
There's always a bigger drill[]
- "Well,"kill them all" always had a certain ring to it."
- ―Trios[12]
The drill citadel was quickly destroyed by the partisans, causing Kanchar to call Trios' people weak; however, he quickly reversed his opinion when the queen revealed theContinent-class crawlerLeviathan. She admitted that they would likely not be able to bring the crawler back into orbit once it was deployed, but claimed this was a sacrifice her people were willing to make to show their devotion to the Empire.[13]
Trios and Kanchar transferred to the command bridge of theLeviathan once it was on Jedha, and after the Imperials managed to track acruiser aiding the Partisans to a rough location on the moon's surface, Trios had her people use resonators to discover the precise location of the Partisans' base. After receiving news that the base had been successfully located and that the Partisans were preparing a raid, Kanchar and Trios ordered that preparations be made to kill all of the rebels.[12]
Joining the Alliance[]
- "I am a queen in search of an Alliance. A rebel one."
- ―Trios, to Leia Organa[4]

Trios confronted Leia Organa onboard theLeviathan.
The Partisans' assault was a two pronged attack; a small group would infiltrate the crawler to power down the vessel's anti-air defenses and seal off the bridge, allowing a second larger group to board theLeviathan using their cruiser and take control of the bridge so that they could drive the vehicle into an abyss and destroy it.[12]
The infiltration group consisted of PrincessLeia Organa andJedi-in-trainingLuke Skywalker escorting thedroidsR2-D2 andC-3PO, and managed to successfully reach the crawler's central control system nexus. Once there, Skywalker separated off from the group in order to head to the bridge, leaving Organa alone with the droids. Trios then confronted the princess with her pistol drawn,[12] and to sell her ruse Trios quietly asked Organa to punch her.[4]
Organa surmised that Trios had leaked the plans to the Leviathan, and the queen explained that she had been feigning loyalty to the Empire while sabotaging their efforts and sought to become an inside contact for the Alliance while also supplying them with the vast resources Sho-torun had secretly stockpiled. Skywalker arrived soon after, insisting they leave, to which Trios agreed and stayed behind to maintain her cover.[4]
Trios then opened the passages for the guards just late enough for the rebels to escape. Trios escaped by shuttle with Kanchar, and reassured the commander than in the long run they would triumph.[4]
Freeing King Lee-Char[]
Trios was then contacted by Organa for information and access torescueMon Cala'sKingLee-Char.[14] Trios went to Mon Cala'sMoncaladrome, where she metMoffTan Hubi and had several drinks with him. Trios secretly drugged the Moff's drink that sent him to arefresher where he was captured byHan Solo andChewbacca.[15] Afterwards, she attended the Moncaladrome's opera withGrand AdmiralDors Urtya andTunga Arpagion posing as Hubi.[16]
Double Agent[]
- "They're here. They expect nothing."
- ―Trios, to Darth Vader[5]
Months after the rebels successfully rallied the Mon Cala to their cause, Trios met with Organa at theMako-Ta Base. After communing with the princess, Trios opened a maximum secured channel and contacted Darth Vader, alerting him to the location of the base and the new rebel fleet.[5] She attended a party where she spoke with Organa about the fleet. She was thanked by Organa for providing many systems for the Mon Calarami ships of the fleet. However, Trios disappeared during Mothma's speech. Organa and GeneralDraven realized that it was a trap. As she was making her way down corridor, Trios dropped her drink, realizing what she had done.[17]
Trios returned to hership and attempted to leave the base. However, Organa and several rebel troops tried to board the ship. As the rebels broke past her guards, Trios decided make her escape as her men covered her. She made her way to an escape pod, where she was confronted by Organa. Trios told her that she would not let Shu-Torun be another Alderaan.[18]
Scourging of Shu-Torrun and death[]
Trios returned to theAncestral Retreat on Shu-Torun. There, she discussed the Empire's increased quota with Commander Kanchar. She apologized for using him as distraction[19] during the Empire's mission to retrieve more Kyber crystals from Jedha.[10] Trios then met with LordOr-Tar, who was actually rebel agent Tunga Arpagion assisting the Partisans and General Leia Organa's team.[19]
Trios was impersonated by Arpagion while she was meeting LadyComali. She was informed that all rooms from the abyssal rooms had been sealed. Trios asked herGrand Marshal what was happening and was informed that outside communications were out and remembered what Or-Tar said; "You did this." She realized that Leia and the rebels were here. Unfortunately, Trios did not know what to do about the Rebels except to take back control.[20] She battled Organa and was killed.[21]
Personality and traits[]
The tragic survivor[]
- "You are an admirable youth. Your father must be proud."
"You would be surprised, Lord Vader."
"Hmm. Your fathershould be proud." - ―Darth Vader and Trios[1]

Trios was forced to serve the man responsible for the deaths of her family.
Trios was ahumanfemale with fair skin, brownhair, and blueeyes. She was completely loyal to her father and took part in his plan despite the huge potential risk to herself, even sticking to it when she believed it would mean her death. Her father's willingness to sacrifice her in this way caused her to doubt that her father was proud of her. She also believed in the importance of Shu-Torun's courtly culture and its use in keeping the ore-dukes in line, defending the practice when Vader questioned the dancing in the abyssal rooms.[1]
After her family's deaths, she remained in line with the Empire for the sake of her people, but demanded that Vader show her respect while they were in public, as otherwise she would never be taken seriously as queen. She understood that she needed to possess the illusion of power instead of real power for her rule to remain stable. She also traveled with Vader to the front lines of the civil war in order to keep her people's respect, feeling she must fulfill the role of Hollian as well as that of queen. Her place on the frontline scared some of her subjects, but she reassured them that her Imperial allies could keep her safe. Trios was horrified by Rubix's attack on the ancestral retreat of her family, which she considered blasphemy deserving of punishment by death.[3][7]
The hardened leader[]
- "I've been intimidatedpersonally by Darth Vader. After that, you find everything else a little underwhelming."
- ―Trios[10]

Trios was unimpressed when Kanchar murdered Befa.
Even after believing she had lost Vader, Trios remained determined to defeat the rebellious barons with or without Imperial forces, and was willing to have Jooli executed when he tried to stop her.[8] She then led her troops from the front rather than simply observe as others had wished. Instead of applying the normal rules of succession to Rubix's children, she elected to give power to his daughter Bixene, as through her own experience with Vader she had learned that inexperienced youths who did not expect power were the easiest to manipulate once they had power. Before Vader left, she sought his approval on how she had handled the war, and after he left asked the stormtrooper that had been assigned to her if he danced, informing him that everyone on Shu-Torun had to dance due to the courtly culture.[9]
Seeing the ruined remains of Jedha reminded Trios of the conditions on her homeworld, and she was confident that she and her people were the best choice for the job of harvesting what kyber crystals remained on Jedha. When Kanchar killed Befa for his incompetence, Trios sarcastically commented on Kanchar's lack of charm and was unaffected when the large man tried to intimidate her, stating that after one was personally intimidated by Darth Vader all other threats became somewhat underwhelming.[10]
Equipment[]
- "We all do our duty."
- ―Trios[1]
While with Vader, Trios wore a whitegown with a golden trim and a blue cloak. She carried a concealedblaster pistol with her while escorting Vader,[1] and later carried ablaster rifle during battle in the civil war.[3] She kept her hair up with a piece of golden headwear.[1] After losing her hand to Vader, she had acybernetic replacement installed.[3] While on theLeviathan, Trios wore a suit of goldenarmor and carried a golden blaster pistol.[12]
