The book was first announced as a part of theJourney toStar Wars: The Last Jedi multimedia project, set to be released before thefilm.[2] It was later pushed toDecember 15 to coincide with the release of film, and the "Journey toStar Wars: The Last Jedi" banner was removed from the cover. However, the book did not meet that release date either.[3]

OnFebruary 16,2018,[4] it was announced that the book would come out onMay 25 of that year,[5] coinciding with the release ofSolo: A Star Wars Story, which the newest cover reflected.[4]
