Stygeon Prime, otherwise known as Stygeon, was amountainous andsnow-coveredplanet[7] located in theStygeon system[3] of theOuter Rim Territories'[1]Nuiri sector.[2] The planet was 9,100kilometers in diameter,[6] and held a Type Iatmosphere, with a mixture ofoxygen,hydrogen andnitrogen,[5] as well as a thin[6] and cold climate.[7] Inorbit of a singlestar[5] and orbited by twomoons,[6] Stygeon was almost completely devoid of native life,[5] except for the largetibidee creatures that called it home.[7] Thanks to its conditions the world was an ideal location for aprison asescapees would not usually survive outside the prison walls.[8]
History[]
After hercapture[11] in around66 BBY,[12] the notoriousbounty hunter andassassinShenda Mol was put "on ice" at Stygeon Prime.[11] During theClone Wars, theSith LordsDarth Tyranus andDarth Sidiousimprisoned Sidious's formerapprenticeMaul in theSpire, aConfederateprison on Stygeon Prime. Maul was laterbroken out byMandalorianforces that were part of hisShadow Collective.[10] After the Clone Wars, the planet was occupied by theGalactic Empire.[9] The Empire and itsInquisitorius used the Spire and imprisoned and laterexecuted theJediMasterLuminara Unduli there, while her remains were kept in her former cell in order to lure out any survivors ofOrder 66.[3] In5 BBY,[13] the rebelliouscrew of theGhost learned of Unduli andattempted to save her before only nearly escaping thethe Grand Inquisitor.[3]

The planet Stygeon Prime, referred to then as Stygeon, was first mentioned in theBlaster segment ofStar Wars Insider 149, which discussed the upcomingStar Wars: Darth Maul—Son of Dathomir miniseries. It first appeared in thefirst issue.[10] The planet's full name was revealed inStar Wars Rebels: The Visual Guide.[9]
