Ahsoka Tano caught in a stun net
Stun nets, also known aselectronets[1] were a type of nonlethal weapon used to subdue and capture live subjects.
Description[]
Stun nets were made of a strongduracord, withstun threads andstun beads woven into it, and covered with a conductive liquid adhesive. The adhesive served to trap the target within the net while a paralyzing electrical shock was generated and discharged by aStun Field Generator in the center of the net. The electrical shock could be delivered upon contact with the net or initiated via remote control, which could also vary the intensity of the shock delivered.[2]
While stun nets could be laid out to capture a target, they were also loaded intocanisters which could be fired bynet launchers. Examples of these net launchers includedGolan Arms'RL-40 stun net launcher andRGL-80A electronet grenade launcher.[2]
History[]
Stun nets were the preferred method of capturing newly-discovered animals by theRepublic Scout Service for immediate study during exploration missions. Stunnets soon came to the attention of other groups, and quickly began being used for less noble pursuits.Big-game hunters began to use stun nets to capture prey which allowed them to avoid damage to the pelts. Military forces employed stun nets as part of their defensive fortifications.Slavers began using them for live capture ofsentients, preserving their "market value" but not injuring them during the process.Bounty hunters often carried stun nets to takebounties alive.[2]
