Opening crawl[]

CHAPTER FIVE
Clones in peril! Struggling to maintain their position, Republic forcescontinue to fight valiantly to protect Hisseenian civilians. But with theSeparatists numbers growing, the clones may not be able to holdtheir enemies back for much longer....

On Hisseen, Captain Rex, Commander Cody, and Commander Wolffe all recover after a large enemy blast goes off, which both the Hisseenians and allied troops managed to get clear of. However, the three of them quickly become surrounded by battle droids who order them to surrender, prompting Cody to recount an event from earlier in the war.

Plot summary[]

Flashing back to the Outer Rim moon of Caliban, a snowy wasteland littered with mountains, Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi and a squad of 212th clone troopers led by Cody are being held as prisoners by Separatist General Grievous. If they want to live, they will start working immediately on building a lunar ice bridge, but Kenobi informs the General that they won’t be doing any such thing since the Galactic Accords clearly state that prisoners of war shall not be forced into manual labor. However, Grievous tells Kenobi that they belong to him now and will do what he says or die. Later when constructing the bridge, Kenobi talks with his men and says that apparently the bridge was destroyed by Grievous when he first invaded the planet. The bridge is the only way to get from one side of the planet to the next, and since they’re the ones rebuilding it, it would be tragic if the Separatists suffered an accident when using it.

When Kenobi and Cody start to plan to build the bridge with flaws, they stumble across one of the planet’s natives called a Qubey, which is standing on one side of the destroyed bridge and staring at its separated family on the other side. Learning this, Kenobi tells Cody to belay his earlier orders as they are going to rebuild the bridge so that it’s better than it was before, so the Qubey hugs Obi-Wan and shows him drawings in the snow that depict the Qubey attacking Grievous - signifying that the Republic and Qubey are allies. As the days pass, Grievous becomes annoyed with the progress that his prisoners have made on the construction of the bridge, but Kenobi argues that they are working around the clock and it isn’t easy to rebuild what he’s destroyed. As Grievous tells Obi-Wan that his insolence will be the end of him, a group of Qubeys start to grasp onto Grievous’ limbs in a non-harmful act, but he doesn’t take kindly to this and hurls the creatures off of him. Afterwards, the Qubeys hand Kenobi his lightsaber that they secretly swiped off of Grievous and are complimented on their fast hands.

As time goes on, the Republic prisoners eventually complete the bridge’s construction, and when meeting with Grievous on it, Kenobi tries to bargain for his and the clone’s freedom. However, Grievous explains that the bridge will be used to freely move weapons and troops across the planet to achieve another Separatist victory, and now Kenobi and his men will all die alone on the frozen tundra. As battle droids take aim, Kenobi tells Grievous that he’s predictable and states that he isn’t alone just as a group of Qubeys arrive and begin to attack the droids. Grievous orders a droid to call for reinforcements and get the clones, but when the droid is confused at what to do, a frustrated Grievous calls him an imbecile. With the fight underway, Kenobi activates his lightsaber and engages the General in combat and says that his threats seem to lose their meaning when they’re both holding lightsabers. As the battle rages on, Cody and the 212th work with the Qubeys to take out the Separatist forces and reach their guarded and grounded gunship. While dueling on the newly constructed bridge, Kenobi taunts Grievous by calling him a pet of Dooku which causes the General to become even more enraged. However, this plays right into Kenobi’s hands as Grievous is now where he wants, so he uses the Force to cause an avalanche that engulfs the cyborg. Afterwards, Cody wants to dig Grievous out so that he can be taken into custody, but Kenobi orders for them to leave as Separatist reinforcements will be arriving soon, and they’ve already jeopardized the Qubeys enough. As Kenobi and his clones fly off in the Republic gunship, Kenobi gets confirmation that the Qubeys have reunited on the surface and are together once more, so he has Cody open fire on the bridge and destroy it.

Back in the present on Hisseen, Cody tells Rex and Wolffe that he’s learned that everything is relative when you’re a Jedi. Before the battle droids can execute them, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Plo Koon arrive just in time to take them out, saving their lives. When they joke about all of their roles in the battle, Plo Koon praises the clone leaders for rescuing the Hisseenian leaders before they could fall into Dooku’s hands. Just then, Kenobi receives word from Yoda that they are needed back on Coruscant, and so they all disembark Hisseen aboard gunships and await another happy adventure.
