"So let's have no talk ofleaving the planet, Skywalker! Ineed you and your droids for mywar-- a war to winfinal control of this world once and forall!"
―Governor Quarg[3]

Star Wars 13 is the thirteenth issue inMarvel Comics'Star Wars series of comics, published onApril 11,1978.

Plot summary[]

OnDrexel,Luke Skywalker decides to joinGovernorQuarg's group in their battle against theDragon Lords, at least for the time being. Meanwhile aboardCrimson Jack's space cruiser,Han Solo is trying to talk his way out of trouble when Jack and his crew realize that they have been duped into coming to Drexel. But Quarg's jamming equipment on the planet's surface causes a disruption on the space cruiser, which is enough of a diversion to allow Solo,Chewbacca, andPrincessLeia Organa to escape in theMillennium Falcon to the surface below. TheFalcon splashes onto the water covered surface of Drexel, right in the middle of an epic battle between Quarg's men, pilotinghydra craft, and the Dragon Lords. One of the hydra craft attacks theFalcon just as its occupants are exiting from its top hatch. Luke, who is also piloting a hydra craft in the battle, immediately turns on his new comrades and rushes to save the fallenRebels. He finds only Chewbacca, who, thinking Luke was responsible for the attack, becomes enraged at the young Rebel.

Release and reception[]

AlthoughBob Wiacek was uncredited this issue, the letters page inStar Wars (1977) 18 reveals that he did indeed ink two pages in this issue.

Continuity[]

In flashback, Quarg talks about the wreck-and-salvage operation his father used to run back in the days of the Old Republic. In the flashback a number of dead or wounded Jedi are depicted—arguably the first such appearance of Jedi from the pre-Empire period.
