History[]
Ahive ofGeonosians active in the final decades of theGalactic Republic, the Stalgasin hive made its home in a massivespire located near thePetranaki arena in theE'y-akh Desert. Governed by anarchduke who ruled the hive's political and economic business, the true leader of the hive was thehive queen, who maintained a hidden court in theProgate Temple.[2]
Hadiss the Vaulted ruled for several years. Hadiss was slain by his successor,Poggle the Lesser, during a bloody rebellion secretly funded byDark Lord of the SithDarth Sidious. Poggle rode astride anacklay during the fight and eventually forced Hadiss to the ground and tore him into several pieces. Having assumed the title of Archduke, Poggle went on to expand theGeonosian Industriesfactories underground and pledged loyalty to the political idealistCountDooku, leader of the fledglingseparatist group, theConfederacy of Independent Systems, after the Count demonstrated fealty to the Stalgasin QueenKarina the Great.[1]
After producing a large number ofB1-Series battle droids for theTrade Federation andTechno Union, Poggle ordered the production of theB2 super battle droid to compensate for the wiry frame of their predecessors. When war finally came to the galaxy, thearmies of the Confederacy and theRepublicmet at the Petranaki arena in22 BBY. As the battle erupted on the surrounding plains, many Geonosians died, and the hive spire sustained great damage.[3] Despite all this, the hive's foundries continued to mass-produce droids. Archduke Poggle retreated to the Progate Temple, the hidden palace of Queen Karina andher undead guardsmen.[2]
Following the Clone Wars, the Stalgasin hive remained active in galactic affairs. Despite the death of Archduke Poggle onMustafar at thehands ofDarth Vader, the newly formedGalactic Empire employed Geonosian laborers and scientists to produce technologies for theImperial Department of Military Research.[1]
