Euwood Gor was anAlderaanian who served as a Pathfinder. However, he eventually "went native," abandoning much of his prior life to instead joinanti-Imperial efforts on theplanetOnderon. In the process, he fell in with the extremistSaw Gerrera'sPartisans.[3] Gor remained with the Partisans all the way up to theJedha insurgency,[6] during which Gor met his end as a result of theDS-1 Death Star Mobile Battle Station when it unleashed its power via thedestruction of Jedha City.[11]
Shortly after that event,[6] the Pathfinders, underSergeantRuescott Melshi,[3] joined other volunteers as part ofRogue One, a unit organized byCaptainCassian Andor and SergeantJyn Erso. They undertook a mission tosteal theDeath Star'splans from theCitadel Tower'sdata vault onScarif.[6]

Following the rebel retreat in the wake of theBattle of Hoth, several Pathfinders, includingNeedle andKes Dameron, were stationed as part of theFourth Division.[10] Dameron, Needle, and fellow PathfinderFrell undertook aheist at the Imperial Museum a short time later as part ofOperation Starlight, during which the Pathfinders—along with rebel associatesLandonis Balthazar Calrissian andLobot—moved to steal the museum'sAutonomous Translator Module, Mark II to use its knowledge of the out-of-useTrawaklanguage for use in new rebel codes. During the mission, Needle sacrificed himself by allowing himself to be captured, to which themuseum curator responded by ordering the rebel be put to death.[12]GeneralHan Solo used the Pathfinders as hisstrike team during theBattle of Endor[1] and on araid at the Wretch of Tayron.[7]
Recruitment and training[]
- "We're notcrazy. We're Pathfinders. There's a difference."
- ―Needle[13]
Although members of the Pathfinders hailed from a vast array ofplanets, many of them came fromOuter Rim worlds subjugated by theGalactic Empire. Contrary to their Imperial foes, the Rebel commandos did not benefit fromAcademy training. Nevertheless, they were trained by former Imperials like their leader GeneralCrix Madine.[14]
