Sanctuary Mount was a promontory onCapital Key in theGem Cities of Kwenn on theplanetKwenn that served as anoutpost of theJedi Order. Sanctuary Mount was the name of both the promontory and the Jedi outpost that had been carved into it.[2]
History[]
The outpost was built as part of theGrand Renewal, one of theGreat Works of theHigh Republic Era, with the involvement ofJedi MasterOppo Rancisis. At night, theUnquenchable Flame would shine to remind the people of Kwenn of theJedi's support. The outpost was still open two hundredyears later under the care of SeneschalVoh, although it was no longer frequently attended by Jedi.[2]
Jedi Master Windu (pictured) proposed a mission to mission to Kwenn to see if Kwenn outpost should remain in operation.
When theJedi High Council discussed closing down unused outposts to better accommodate increased presence elsewhere, the Kwenn outpost was considered, although some of the Masters were reluctant to consider shutting down the outpost. MasterMace Windu proposed that the members of the Council embark on avisit to the Kwenn outpost to meet the people of the planet and determine whether to close it down.[2]
During theDefense of Kwenn,Zilastra bombed and destroyed the outpost on sanctuary mount. In the aftermath of the battle it was decided that the outpost would not be rebuilt, however it was decided to clear the top of the mountain to install a new brazier which would be lit everyday not by theJedi but the people ofKwenn themselves.[2]
