Royal Slave Auction

TheRoyal Slave Auction was an event held by theZygerrian Slave Empire that providedslaves to clientele from all throughoutthe galaxy. After theJedi broke theZygerrians' power and their slave trade, the auction was discontinued for a long period of time. During theClone Wars,QueenMiraj Scintel ofZygerria allied herself with theConfederacy of Independent Systems to kidnap theTogruta colonists ofKiros in an attempt to bring back the auction and restore the Slave Empire. However, the auction was disrupted by an undercoverGalactic Republic team on amission to rescue the kidnapped colonists.

History[]

The Royal Slave Auction was an event held for millennia prior to the outbreak of theClone Wars. TheZygerrian Slave Empire provided slaves of various species to clients throughout the galaxy. At some point before theSeparatist Crisis, theJedi Order intervened and broke the slave trade of the Zygerrians.^[1]

In20 BBY,^[4] as part of a bid to rebuildZygerria's ancient power as a slave state,QueenMiraj Scintel reinstated the auction afterkidnappingTogruta colonists from theplanetKiros,^[2] with the assistance of theConfederacy of Independent Systems as part of the ongoingClone Wars.^[1] At the same time, however, theGalactic Republic andJedi had sent an undercover team to Zygerria tolocate the missing colonists, consisting ofJedi KnightAnakin Skywalker,Jedi MasterObi-Wan Kenobi,PadawanAhsoka Tano,Clone CaptainRex and theastromech droidR2-D2. Kenobi was captured by the Zygerrians during an attempt to rescue KirosGovernorGupat Roshti, and subsequently displayed as a captive at the auction. Skywalker, undercover as aenslaver named Lars Quell, was asked by Scintel to whip Kenobi to prove his identity, and exposed his true identity in an attempt to rescue his former master. In the ensuing fight, which disrupted the auction, Skywalker, Kenobi, Tano and Rex were all captured, and Scintel attempted to make Skywalker into her personal slave bodyguard in the aftermath.^[2]

Skywalker eventually escaped after the arrival ofCountDooku, who had intended to order Scintel toexecute the Jedi. TheSith Lord eventually fatallyForce choked the queen and framed Skywalker for the crime, but he escaped with Tano and R2-D2, persuading the dying queen to reveal that the colonists, as well as Kenobi and Rex, had been sent toKadavo. Skywalker and Tano subsequently set out torescue Kenobi, Rex and the colonists, accompanied by backup in the form ofJedi GeneralPlo Koon and his forces.^[3]

The Royal Slave Auction was first mentioned in theStar Wars: The Clone Warsseason 4 episode "Kidnapped,"^[1] and first appeared in the following episode, "Slaves of the Republic."^[2]
