Quatermass served in theImperial Corrections Service aboard theImperial prison bargePurge and was aboard it in1 BBY when the barge broke down while en route to thedetainment moonGradient Seven. Quatermass was selected to be part of a boarding party that was to travel from thePurge to the nearby abandonedStar DestroyerVector, to search for spare parts to try and repair the barge with. The team was led byJareth Sartoris and made its way onto the Star Destroyer through a docking shaft. They then split into two, with Quatermass going off with a group under the command of theImperial Corrections OfficerArmitage, along with his fellow engineerPhibes and a pair ofstormtroopers. However, Quatermass and the rest of the team contracted avirus that had infected the Star Destroyer, anddied.
