- "We've got no homes, no mothers to raise us, no fathers to guide us, but we were thrown into a war and trained to die for a Republic we'd never even seen. We've got nothing but each other and our orders."
- ―Sarge[3]
""Orders (comic)"" was a story fromStar Wars: Clone Wars Adventures Volume 4, the fourth volume in theClone Wars Adventurescomic book series. It primarily focused on the lives of fourRepubliccommandos fromAiwha Squad, their interaction witha young refugee from theClone Wars, and their execution ofJedi GeneralTraavis in accordance withOrder 66.
Plot summary[]
In19 BBY, theGalactic Republicbattled theConfederacy of Independent Systems on theOuter Rimagriculturalworld ofGarqi. After theGrand Army of the Republic accidentally bombed civilian territory in an attempt to destroy the Separatists'battle droids, theclone commandos ofAiwha Squad were sent in to search for survivors. They found a youngboy namedEvan, whose parents had beenkilled, in the bombed out remains of afarm house. Per their orders, AiwhaSquad escorted the child toward the nearbyrefugee camp, but while en route, Evan attempted to escape from theclones, only to encounter anOG-9 homing spider droid. Aiwha Squad'ssergeant,RC-1013, drew thespider droid's attention to himself to protect the boy, and once he had drawn thedroid's fire Aiwha Squad struck, attacking and destroying the droid.
As thesun set over the horizon, Aiwha Squad decided to make camp for the night. Leisurely sitting around a fire without helmets and assorted pieces ofarmor, Evan inquired as to why the fourcommandos all looked the same.Sergeant RC-1013—introducing himself as "Sarge"—explained that they were clones, and introduced the other members of his squad:Zag,Tyto, andDi'kut. Evan explained his own predicament, including how he'd become an orphan during the battle, and Sarge expressed his sympathies before explaining the nature of their lives in the clonearmy and the importance of obeying orders in war. The following morning, Aiwha Squad arrives at the refugee camp with Evan and deliver him into the custody ofJedi Knight andGeneral,Traavis. Traavis commended the squad on their efforts and relayed news ofGeneralGrievous' death while Sarge took a moment to offer some words of advice to Evan before parting. However, mere moments later, Sarge received the transmission fromSupreme ChancellorPalpatine containing an order to carry outOrder 66. Obediently, Sarge ordered his men to comply and shot down General Traavis as a traitor to the Republic, right before Evan's eyes. Seeing the child crying and confused, Sarge explained the meaning behind Order 66—that theJedi were traitors to the Republic who were to be killed—and reiterated his belief in obeying the orders given to him.
