"Nightlily: The Lovers' Tale" is a short story written byBarbara Hambly forTales from the Mos Eisley Cantina, which was published byBantam Spectra inAugust1995. The story is aboutFeltipern Trevagg andM'iiyoom Onith, or "Nightlily," and takes place in0 BBY.

It was made into a full-castaudio dramatization byBantam Doubleday Dell Audio Publishing, a division ofBantam Spectra, with licensedStar Wars sound effects.

Plot summary[]

Feltipern Trevagg, aGotaltax collector, is working when he meetsM'iiyoom Onith, afemaleH'nemthe. He is immediately attracted to her. She has missed herflight, and he says that he can get her another tomorrow. Then he offers to take her out to lunch, where he confesses that he loves her. She is happy, and eagerly agrees tomarry him, not knowing he really only wants her for a night. As he passes his office, he sees his co-workerPredne Balu, who angrily tries to tell him something: a warning. He does not listen and heads off with his lover. That night, Feltipern isdevoured by M'iiyoom as part of a H'nemthe mating ritual. The next day, when his body is found,Wuher and Predne can only stare, amazed he did not know of the H'nemthe's curious mating ritual.

The nameM'iiyoom was derived from awhite flower found on theplanetH'nemthe. It translated from the local tongue to "Nightlily" inBasic.[1]

This story was adapted byAndy Mangels as a full castaudio dramatization and released on CD and cassette byBantam Doubleday in1995.[1]
