New Territories
Astrographical information
Trade routes
It largely had been undeveloped for millennia aside from the well-known planets ofIthor,Ord Mantell andIridonia. Promotion of expansion in this region failed miserably on numerous occasions. The atrocities of theKanz Disorders and the disastrousOuter Expansion Zone initiative paralyzed the development. Finally in the later years of theGalactic Republic, the settlement accelerated with the dispatching of a large fleet owned by theD'Astamerchants fromSerenno. They created various markets along theBraxant Run, andNalronimerchants worked to establish markets beyond theCelanon Spur. With these successes,Coruscant dubbed it the "New Territories" and invested heavily in the region; it remained fiercely loyal to the Republic and then the Empire during theGalactic Civil War as a result.[1]
Nevertheless,Galactic Empire successor states were established in this region, such as thePentastar Alignment, theCiutric Hegemony and theImperial Remnant. During theYuuzhan Vong War, however, the region was devastated and struggled to recover.[1]
TheD'Asta family was the most influential family of the New Territories.[1]
